Poetic Film Review: Alexander (2004)
In realms of history, a grand tale unfolds,
Of Alexander the Great, a name to behold,
A conqueror, a king, a vision of might,
His legacy forever etched in the night.
Born to Philip, with dreams of the East,
Alexander's ambition knew no rest,
United he sought to unite the land,
A task of great magnitude, with a warrior's hand.
From Macedonia's hills to the Persian plains,
His conquests spread like a conqueror's reign,
Egypt, India, and beyond, his name resounds,
A testament to the greatness he founds.
Oliver Stone, a filmmaker bold,
Tried to capture the essence, the story untold,
With a budget grand, and sets of great splendor,
A cinematic feat, but a tale that bender.
Critics faulted the film, its flaws so many,
A disjointed plot, with characters astray,
Farrell's wig, Jolie's excess, a casting misfire,
A film that faltered, a dream that expired.
Yet, in its failure, a lesson we find,
Of the struggle to capture greatness in kind,
A tale of a man, whose life was a quest,
To leave his mark on the sands of time, at best.
In the end, Alexander's story remains,
A testament to the power of ambition's flames,
A reminder that greatness is not without its flaws,
But a spark that ignites, with a story that endures.
