A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

Welcome to another ranked movie list. I am a big Star Wars fan and wanted to rank the Star Wars films in what order I think they are but of course it is all my opinion. Since The Last Jedi was so controversial and I am sure SOLO will be as well. Lets take a look at the 9 movies in the Star Wars series so far (no, I'm not counting The Ewok Adventure/Caravan of Courage feature) to see if we can't stir up more controversy.

9. The Phantom Menace

This used to be higher ranked on my list but recently after watching The Phantom Menace I couldn't stomach Jar Jar Binks. All the Gungans were too much for me and were a big lull in the movie. Top notables in the movie however were Qui-Gon Jinn played by Liam Neeson and Darth Maul played by Ray Park who wielded a sweet dual sided light saber.

8. Revenge of the Sith

Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was such a disappointment in the prequels. Even though knowing how it would end was a foregone conclusion, it just didn't pan out the way you would want. Seeing the Emperor in action again was a benefit however.

7. Attack of the Clones

Out of the prequels I have to say Attack of The Clones was the best. Yes, it was unnecessarily too long especially with that love story between Anakin and Padme, but the action at the end of the movie was A+. Obi-Wan felt more real in this movie plus The Jango Fett storyline sure was intriguing.

6. The Last Jedi

Ah, the latest movie in the series. The movie fans got, but didn't want or need. Most people hated the direction it was taken and let's be honest, it was a big letdown. The scene in the throne room with Rey and Kylo Ren was Grade A however and was very well done. Let's hope they turn this story around with Episode 9.

5. Rogue One

A Star Wars movie thats not per say part of the main saga, oh no! And a main female lead? Oh, no! Thats what some may have been thinking but Rogue One is turning out to be one of the best Star Wars movies since the originals and I have friends that say it is the best Star Wars movie, period. But they would be wrong.

4. The Force Awakens

The Force Awakens was miles ahead of The Last Jedi. Yes it wasn't exactly where some wanted to go with the franchise but it was a pleasure seeing it. Just seeing it right before The Last Jedi made me so pumped to go see the new movie and then you can all guess how that went. You can call it a rehash of A New Hope but hey, I still enjoyed it.

3. Return of the Jedi

I am very tempted to put this over the first Star Wars film. A lot of unfair hate on this movie due to the Ewoks but Return of the Jedi is fun, classic and just a thrill to watch. The opening sequence at Jabba's palace sets a great backdrop and who doesn't want to visit the moon of Endor now?

2. A New Hope

The one that started it all, Star Wars: A New Hope. It is classic, it tells a new, refreshing and unique story and set the bar for science fiction for years to come. The effects were way ahead of its time and Star Wars will forever be popular but after rewatching the originals recently my new number one has to be.........

1. The Empire Strikes Back

The original Star Wars was so good, people were asking how do you top that? With this movie of course. It's never good to see the bad guys come away with a win but the tone in this movie is exactly what was needed following the first film. The whole time I watch this I just say to myself, how damn good is this movie? And that twist at the end? You know what I am talking about.

So thanks for taking the time to read my rant and rank. Star Wars as a whole is one of the best pieces of Science Fiction out there. Hopefully the franchise doesn't keep going downhill after The Last Jedi. I am a big proponent of separate films in the Star Wars universe with brand new characters so people can be more objective. Even then it is still good seeing Star Wars back in theaters and being talked about again.
