My favorite horror movies
Horror movies have been popular for years. Each of us sometimes wants to feel a rush of adrenaline, panic fear or disgust, then relax, realizing that it is just a movie. What horrors will provide us with the greatest dose of overwhelming fear?
Us
A visit to his family home in California marks the beginning of a story told by Jordan Peele. Very soon, a family vacation, which was supposed to be a pleasant laziness on the beach, will turn into a terrible meeting with mysterious people who do not respond to words addressed to them. After a while, they surround the house and break into it.
It's us starts out like a classic home invasion horror movie. Later it is completely different. The film is full of allusions, symbols, metaphors, vague references that leave the viewer with a certain feeling of vagueness, understatement.
The actors are put in dual roles. They are both terrified and terrifying at the same time. The ending of the movie leaves more questions than it answers. The viewer alone, in the privacy of his home, has to deal with his doubts and fear, which makes him goose bumps. We will watch "It's us" on Hulu, for example.
Brightburn: Son of Darkness
Everyone knows the story of Clark Kent. But what would have happened, how would the fate of the world have turned out if Clark had not wanted to help mankind? What if Clark was angry?
The Superman story upside down is terrifying in its simplicity. A married couple trying for a child, a gift of fate in the form of a little boy who needs care. Normal everyday life, which changes when a boy, under the influence of abuse at school, realizes that he is not like the others.
Horror films based on the great and destructive power of a child are terrifying when we combine the image of an innocent boy with the enormous sadism that lies in him. Brandon sees no reason not to use his unusual abilities. The parents, despite their great love for their son, see the problem and try to stop the boy.
Brandon's strength is huge and his actions are spectacular. Chaos, sadism and a large amount of blood are what will not be missing in this horror movie. We can watch "Brightburn" on HBO GO, for example.
Pet Sematary
Stephen King's stories have been haunting us for many years. And this time it is exactly the same. The story begins innocently. A family of four moves to a small town. They are looking for silence, peace. They dream of an idyllic home, close contact with nature. However, from the very beginning, nothing is as it was meant to be.
The misfortunes that befall the family culminate in the death of the girl's beloved cat, Church, who is buried in an old Indian cemetery. Legend has it that those who were buried there returned to the world of the living. We will watch "Pet Smasher" on Netflix, for example.
It is one of those horrors that convinces us that those who have died should be dead. Family horror films are not uncommon in the cinema. This one holds us in suspense and confronts us with the question of how far can you go to save your family? What can be done against the will of others to achieve your goal?
