Is it unconventional to not watching Game of Thrones?

Not everybody is passionate with "Game of Thrones", and some are fed up of the fuss around its  screening.

I find it somewhat bothersome sometimes of being forced to be aware of everything on this series. Even though Game of Thrones is a social phenomenon, and one of the most pirated series, and probably the most watched in the world, not everybody like it. Yes, you read it right, there are people out there who do not like and / or do not watch Game of Thrones.

With its, "I don't want to miss the next episode". "Did you download the 4 episodes that were leaked?" "Did you read the books?" "Is Jon Snow really died?" The enthusiasm of the media and fans at the broadcast of each season is at best incomprehensible to those diehard viewers, and at worst very annoying.

Not a day goes by without an article about "GoT". The hype around GoT does not make me want to watch, joked Bruce, 35. Those who do not follow the series may especially have the feeling of being "excluded" in society. "Everyone around me just talk about it. "When is the new episode coming out?" exclaimed Cindy, 23, a business school student, who also agreed to testify as "no fan." "You are out of conversation as soon as you mention that you do not watch GoT," adds Kate, 31, a marketing consultant.

Josh, 18, is constantly find himself in the same situation. "My close friends are all watching Game of Thrones. It is irritating to hear about it all the time, I never understand what fascinates GoT fans and they don't understand why I don't like GoT as well.

For him, GoT has become a significant fashion trend; to not watch it may be seen as unconventional. Sometimes social pressure is so strong that some end up watching it. This is the case of Candice, 24. "I didn't like it, but end up watching it since people around me are all talking about GoT. I'm addicted to it now.

Are we all going to be GoT fans? Certainly not. Cindy doesn't like the "reductionist concept of women which is given in this series", as others are attracted by its fantastic side, violence or medieval costumes. Josh thinks the contrary, with all the fuss about Game of Thrones, viewers might be tired in near future. Hopefully, the series will conclude with its eighth season.  Watch this space.
