Sony has two more Spider-Man spin-off movies in development
We're still not entirely sure what to make of Sony's Spider-Man spin-off universe that may or may not feature Spider-Man himself.
Either way, the studio is investing in it in a serious way, now putting two more films into development.
Movies focusing on Spider-Man villains Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio are in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with the assumption that they are building to Avengers-like team-up Sinister Six once the different characters are established.
Kraven the Hunter is Sergei Kravinoff, a big-game hunter who dreams of hanging Spider-Man's head on his wall. He featured in the classic story 'Kraven's Last Hunt'.
Mysterio is a criminal who uses illusions to pull off his heists. The name has been adopted by various individuals – most notably Quentin Beck – and he wears a goldfish bowl on his head.
The films will join Venom and Silver & Black – a film starring Spider-Man's supporting characters Black Cat and Silver Sable.
Early reports were that these films have nothing to do with the MCU, but producer Amy Pascal recently said that Tom Holland's Spider-Man would still be a part of the spin-off world.
Director Ruben Fleischer's Venom will star Tom Hardy, and is targeting a release in 2018. Gina Prince-Bythewood is attached to direct Silver & Black.
