Every Child is Special
I am very busy streaming videos on youtube because today is so boring and I have nothing to do. When I am searching a movie on youtube, I didn't know that I unexpectedly clicked a video. I was shocked when I see the title "Like Stars on Earth"(Every Child is Special). I said to myself " Ha? Every child is special? Why....?" Because of my curiosity, I watch the movie without hesitations. I feel that after watching this movie, I will get something new.
Taare Zameen Par (titled Like Stars on Earth internationally) is a 2007 Indian drama film produced and directed by Aamir Khan. The story is all about Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi, an 8-years old boy who cannot cope with the academic demand in school. He found his self-happy for everything he wants to imagine. The letters he sees are moving and when he writes, his letters and numbers are sometimes inverted. Because of his difficulties in school and family, he became depressed and confused.
His parents then decided to move him to a new school that will teach him better and far away from home, which, they did not know that will make Ishaan more depressed. Ishaan is having a hard time coping and adjusting and his only stress reliever is through painting.
Out of the blue, Mr. Ram Shankar Nikumbh, a new art teacher came to the scene that defies traditionally practiced teaching. He set his students on hype fire encouraging them to use their imagination.
He noticed Ishaan and his difficulties. He discovered that Ishaan’s mistakes are because that he has dyslexia, a disorder that involves difficulty in learning to read or interpret words, letters, and other symbols, but that does not affect general intelligence. Nikumbh reminisced his past as he also has the same problem as Ishaan before. He decided to help the kid.
While observing Ishaan, Nikumbh noticed the kid’s talent in art. He realized the kid’s potential. Nikumbh came to visit Ishaan’s family and expound to them the kid’s problem why he is different. His parents were ashamed of themselves not knowing their sons potential.
Nikumbh helped the kid read and write properly. They made a great bond together
Nikumbh approached the school’s principal to have an event of painting to show the school that Ishaan is not what they seem to think he is. On the event, Ishaan is faced off with a different artist in school including his very own mentor, Nikumbh.
When the decision came to who won the eyes and hearts of the judges. He is tied with his teacher Nikumbh, but only one should be the winner. And that someone is no other than Ishaan himself. He won over his very own mentor which made him, Nikumbh, and his family very happy and proud. Ishaan’s victory helps him find himself which made him a better person in school, family, and community. His grades became higher and his personality improved.
WOAHHH!! I was really shocked and thrilled when I learnt that the movie grossed ₹889.7 million, that is kind of big! Besides that, the movie also received numerous awards! including the Filmfare Award for Best Film for 2008 and the 2008 National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare. It was India's official entry for the 2009 Academy Awards Best Foreign Film, but did not progress to the short-list. The director and the producer of the movie is

Ishaan is like my young cousin Eric who has dyslexia. His parents and teachers were struggling in teaching him. He doesn't know how to read and write even though the teachers tried their very best. I still remember those days how doleful my aunt is because of him. He was 10 years-old at that time.
We received many judgments from other people. They oftentimes said that the future of Eric is nothing. He will never be a successful man. He should be ready because, in the end, he will be just a beggar asking for a money. It's too tough to be encompassed by an evaluative neighbor. They will just keep on criticizing a person's imperfections.
Today, our neighbors were virtous. We don't hear now a judgments from them. Maybe that is because he is an Electrical Engineer now. Those people who looked down him is now regretting. We are very grateful because of them, we were inspired and motivated.
Why do my cousin is now a successful man, he is unable to read and write before? Well, his mother is very optimistic. She did her best so that Eric will be able to read and write. Even though she is tired in teaching him, she didn't give up until he finally knows to read.
In the movie, I have learned that I should not compare myself to others. Comparing yourself is one of the reason why you will be discontented and and got envious to others success. Remember, there's no comparison between sun and moon, they both shine at the right time.
"A child is like a butterfly in the wind. SOme can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each one is different. Each one is special. Each one is Beautiful."
My Favorite Scene
Ishaan's reaction is very exceptional. He was shocked when he found out that it is not only him who has dyslexia.
