Something Wicked This Way Comes

Well at least this isn't yet another live action remake of the animated Disney film we grew up with.

I kinda have a thing for fantasy, from films like Lord of the Rings, to Star Wars, it's by far the most geeky side of me. This film is kind of a re-imagined take on a story we all know pretty well, the tale of Sleeping Beauty. What I love about the concept is that it tell the story more from the perspective of who we thought the villain has always been, the evil witch who put a curse on Sleeping Beauty because she was not invited to the birth celebration. It an interesting take, because most folk stories compiled by writers The Brothers Grimm were not all that child friendly and were tales of warning and rather violent too, but as the stories were retold by word of mouth over the years it was made far more kid friendly.

If this is the first time you have even heard of this film I would suggest you first go watch the 2014 Maleficent movie, as this will be the sequel to that film, which was a origin tale of where this evil witch came from and just what exactly happened that made her so mean. The Mistress of Evil seems to take place on par with the story as we know if but the people who we think are the bad ones, is not always the case. I think of what a wise man once said, "You're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view." - Obi Wan. Unfortunately we are going to have to wait until October for this release at a cinema near you.
