Got Popcorn ? #3 IT
Hello Steemians !
This is a series where I review movies, in which I’m going to talk about films that I recently saw or that I particularly liked. I’m not a specialist in movies but I really love watching them.
A little disclaimer first, I really don't like movies with a really bad writing or story. If there is a lot of clichés it would be hard for me to really get into the story so you may say that I ask a lot from movies I watch ! Just to give you an idea, movies like Shutter Island, Fight Club or Inglorious Bastard are the kind that I really love.

Story
In October 1988, teenager Bill Denbrough gives his seven-year-old brother, Georgie, a paper sailboat. Georgie sails the boat along the rainy streets of small town Derry, and is disappointed when it falls down a storm drain. As he attempts to retrieve it Georgie sees a clown in the sewer, who introduces himself as "Pennywise the Dancing Clown". The clown entices Georgie to come closer, then severs his arm and drags him into the sewer.
The following summer, Bill and his friends (loudmouth Richie Tozier, hypochondriac Eddie Kaspbrak, and timid Stan Uris) run afoul of bully Henry Bowers and his gang. Bill, still haunted by Georgie's disappearance and the resulting neglect from his grief-stricken parents, discovers that his brother's body may have washed up in a marshy wasteland called the Barrens. He recruits his friends to check it out, believing his brother may still be alive.
Overall Impression
I went to the cinema on Monday to see that movie, I don’t know if it was because of the cinema but I was really scared. Usually, I’m not a big fan of horror movies because they’re often full of clichés but not this one ! Ok, there is some but they’re not too present in the story or at least, the movie knows it and doesn’t spend too much time explaining it, the movie knows that we know.
Another thing that I really love in “It” is that it’s always scary, anywhere in the movie. You’ll never rest while watching it and will stay stressed during the whole movie. For example, often in scary movies, there is a long introduction where the characters are developed and basically, nothing happens there.
Actually, that’s not the case for this movie, after like 5 minutes you’re already terrified. However, it’s not a simple jumpscare witch a lot of movie overuse I think. A jumpscare is easy to make you just throw something at the screen, but here is a more deep fear that they installed.
I don’t think I can say more without a spoiler so I’ll stop here. I’ll finish with that, if you want to see a great horror film, it’s a good choice ! It’s really been awhile since I was that scared with a movie.
Spoiler Alert
Well well well, if you are here either you already have seen the movie or you’re too scared to watch it. What a movie isn’t it ?!
I don’t even know where to start. Let’s go for the atmosphere, I personally never feel safe during the movie, you never know what is going to happen because every 10 minutes you see a red balloon and that’s not a good sign. As said earlier, the lack of jumpscare is very very great, there is some of course but it’s not the main source of fear.
Moreover, I don’t know if you have noticed it but all the scene are in the daylight, which I think is exceptional for a horror movie. Usually, it’s always dark, you barely see the monster ect,..
This part is the biggest spoil I could make about this movie, so if you ever want to see it, I don’t recommend you to read it. Actually, it’s about the “reason” of the monster, the fact that he depends on the fear is ok I think. It isn’t a complicated plot but it works perfectly with the movie. It’s a horror movie and it doesn’t need a complex plot.
It took me some time to understand it though but the objective of the movie isn’t to twist your mind, it’s just to scare you ! And it does it pretty well !
I hope you liked this movie review ! Don't hesitate to give me advice or simply tell me what you think of this. Watch another Got Popcorn here.
I choose movies because of comments to my movie posts so if you want to suggest me a movie to watch you're at the perfect place !
See you next Sunday !
I really enjoyed this movie, it was just as much hilarious as it was scary.
looks scary
One of the best post I like it.
I would appreciate if you check my posts as well @amecool
I saw this movie recently at the cinema. However, personally, I thought the original movie was better. The clown was scarier in the old ' IT' movie/US television series. Also the story moving back and forward in the early US tv series between the character's childhood and present where they met again, gave more depth and meaning to the movie. The bond and friendship and relationships between the kids was more focussed on in the original movie. In my opinion making it a better movie.
So with less special effect, and a more intense story, the original movie was scarier and creepier and overall a more intense experience to watch.
Amazing post @jarendesta
