Got Popcorn ? #2 Mystic River
Hello Steemians !
This is a series where I review movies, in which I’m going to talk about films that I recently saw or that I particularly liked. I’m not a specialist in movies but I really love watching them.
A little disclaimer first, I really don't like movies with a really bad writing or story. If there is a lot of clichés it would be hard for me to really get into the story so you may say that I ask a lot from movies I watch ! Just to give you an idea, movies like Shutter Island, Fight Club or Inglorious Bastard are the kind that I really love.

Story
Three boys, Jimmy Markum, Sean Devine, and Dave Boyle, play hockey in a Boston street in 1975. Spotting wet concrete, they start writing their names into it when a car pulls up and two men, pretending to be police officers, get out, berate the boys for their actions, and tell Dave to get into the car. The men hold Dave captive and sexually abuse him for four days, until he escapes.
Twenty-five years later, the boys are grown and, while they still live in Boston, have drifted apart. Jimmy is an ex-con running a neighborhood store, while Dave is a blue-collar worker, still haunted by his abduction.
Unfortunately, Jimmy's 19-year-old daughter Katie is murdered. Sean, now a detective with the Massachusetts State Police, investigates Katie's murder while Jimmy conducts his own investigation using his neighborhood connections.
Overall Impression
This is one of the movies you want to re-watch just after watching it ! It’s really amazing !
It’s the first movie from Clint Eastwood that I watch and I don’t think it will be the last.
First, all the characters are deep and well developed, you can understand each actions of them, why they’re doing this or that.
Secondly, the story is really interesting and even if I don’t really like crime movie, this one is thinking with you. It’s hard to explain but when you’re watching this movie, it gives you clues to make your own hypothesis and you advance with the character to find more of them.
For example, it doesn’t tell you what to think, you are just confronted with the facts, the clues as the characters do. The movie makes you think while watching !
Spoiler Alert
It’s a really really big spoil which will ruins the movie if you didn’t saw it so be sure of what you’re doing before reading this. If you want to see the movie don’t read this.
During the entire movie everything will point out the guiltiness of Dave, really everything, evidences, testimonies, even from his own wife. Of course, with his rude childhood you’ll start to think he became mad and that’s another reason to think he’s guilty.
However, it’s not him ! Actually, it’s some kids from the neighbourhood who killed Kate and you’ll find out that the night where Dave is killed by his friend Jimmy convinced that he found the murderer of his daughter.
