Remakes and Sequels Priority Release? | Thoughts on Disney's Future Films
Disney recently released a timeline of their upcoming movies for the next 4 years. That's right, 4 years worth of movies are already lined up. That's a lot of extra Steem that I'll be saving up for future movie tickets.
Here is the official list:
The number one thing that I have noticed is that the list is filled with remakes and sequels while some of the Originals seemed to have been pushed a few years.
One example is the film that I have been anticipating is called "Gigantic" which is a Jack and the Beanstalk 3D animation adaptation that, if I remember correctly, was originally set to be released in November 2018 now set on November 2020. That's right, another two more years of waiting because they moved its release so that the Live-Action Mulan Remake and Wreck-It Ralph sequel gets and earlier release. And instead of giving the following year, they put in Frozen 2, another sequel that I think will be good but releasing earlier than a newer adaptation is a bit of a stretch.
As a person who grew up with Disney films, I'm very excited to watch all of their future films. It is just that, I am longing for more films that are not Sequels or Remakes. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch them all in a heartbeat but I really wish they would refrain from bombarding us so many Sequels and Remakes in a single year.
I am happy about the fact that they moved all the future Star Wars films to its original and traditional release date which is May. I'm also glad that The Incredibles 2 is coming closer, a sequel that I've been begging for since I was a child. As for Cars 3 and Toy Story 4, I don't know if I want them, I guess I just have to see them first. It's also noticeable that most of the original concepts lately are from Pixars but they are starting to resort to multi-sequels that I hope would not ruin my childhood.
I'm also excited for new Marvel Origin films, I just hope they're are capable of being watched as it is and do not rely on assuming that you have seen all of the other Marvel Cinematic Films. This is a bit of a problem for the latest Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, in which you really have to watch the first one to get some of the context.
I'm really excited to see all of them, I just hope they live up to my fan-girl expectations.

Remakes and sequels are often given priority over original movie sequels, with many currently in the works such as 'Barbie', 'Wonka', 'Titanic', 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny', 'Scream 6', 'The Expendables' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. To make a good movie sequel, it should be faithful to its source material while also adding something new or different.
