Movie Recommendation: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
The content of the movie is not over-viewed here. I think there are three clues in the movie:
- Walter looks for the 25th negative, which is to search for Sean's journey.
- Todd's dating website. It has been interspersed with Walter's journey; it’s a journey of life experience and tortuous emotion.
- The process from daydreaming to real dreams.
Do you remember the wallet that Sean sent to Walter? It writes the motto of LIFE:
TO SEE THE WORLD, THINGS DANGEROUS TO COME TO, TO SEE BEHIND WALLS, TO DRAW CLOSER, TO FIND EACH OTHER AND FEEL.
THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE.
When Walter saw the photo taken by Sean, Sean seems to be calling him to act, to open up his vision, to break through the hardships, to feel the world, and not to live in the absurd daydream.
First stop: Greenland
In this beautiful town, Walter found "thumb" clue in Sean’s photo.
At sea, Walter jumped to the opposite end, directly into the cold sea. At that time, Walter is no longer the manager who only daydreams. He is a man who acts bravely to achieve his goals.
Second stop: Iceland
With the little old ship, Walter came to the beautiful Iceland.
Walter rode a bike on the road.
The film presents a beautiful Iceland.
With the skateboard exchanged with the local children, Walter went to the airport. Dynamic pictures and vast mountain prospects gave people free and comfortable feelings.
Volcanic eruption when Walter arrived to the small town. The photographer on the airplane seems to be the Sean he looks for.
Final stop: Himalayas
Take the travel log that father gave him many years ago. Encouraged by his mother, Walter went to Himalaya Range to looking for Sean.
At the end of the movie, of course, Walter found the 25th negative. But the magazine used the following picture.
To dream, to realize the dream, to feel the truth and beauty of the world, to live bravely, to face life, to break away from the bondage of the heart, and to walk on the road of life.
