Movie Review: Spotlight (2015) Little people against big church

Oh boy... Where to start. First of all this movie is not for the faint hearted. If you dont want to shatter your view on your perfect community or your religious institutions dont watch this masterpiece. And yes i said your religious institutions not just catholic church. Because in essence this movie just doesnt show the corruption in catholic church it makes us clear how dark and sadistic our society can get and how little we can sense or see this evil until it preys on us.

Spotlight is taken from real events and centers a team of journalist's discovery about a literal pedophile ring inside of the Boston Catholic Church. With 121 awards which 2 are Oscar award you know this movie masterfully executed by director Tom McCharty and characters came to life just right by big actors like Micheal Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Stanley Tucci. But still even so many awards by academys ı still think this movie doesnt gets enough spotlight from the viewers (haa see what ı did there).

Events unfolds as Liev Schreiber's characther Marty Baron meets Baston Globes staff and decides to go after a child abuse case by a priest. We dig deeper with spotlight team as they uncover how deep the rabbit hole goes. And it goes deep. We meet victims, ve meet abusers, and we meet officals trying to cover up or profit up. One priest becomes 13 priest ,
13 priest becomes 87...

This movie gives out more of a documentary feel rather than drama. Which is good because it gives its message more powerful this way. We get more of a realism with not getting personal with journalists's life and rather get a more raw cut view of what happened in real life and what obsticales our journilasts had to overcome. We see how powerful people tried to defend pedofile priests, how some people tried to get a profit from people's miseries and deaths. This raw cut makes you remember your daily life and makes you remember where ever you live or which religion you believe in there are cracks in society's moral walls. It makes you remember your own pedophile imams or rabbies and how your country, your rich tried to cover it up. This masterpiece makes you shiver in your couch of how forgetful you are and how evil can people be.

In my book Spotlight is a must see and deserves all the praises it gets. Every person with a little free time should watch this movie, see the bravery of Boston Globes spotlight team and the victims came forward to stop the abuse.
