Motocross. Enduro Trip, Splashes and Crashes.

in #motocross7 years ago (edited)

A follow on from yesterdays post will detail all the splashes and crashes through the day. The 18 rider group was made up of Husqvarnas, CRFs, WRs and KLXs. Some of these KLXs and CRFs were rental bikes! These rentals held up good but certainly too their fair share of falls.

Many of the water crossings- streams or the flooded fields, seemed to catch out many of the new riders. After riding through all of them myself, I found the muddy water hid some very deep ruts. Since it was farm land, the ruts had probably been cut out by tractors or large trucks that got bogged in the soft soil. Coming through on a bike meant that if your line, speed or balance was wrong- you would likely come off.

The street legal road bikes that had less torque than the motocross bikes started to struggle through the deeper water and stalled. Riders fell and got stuck lol.

And sometimes the 'less' powerful bikes tried to compensate for the lack of torque with clutch control. This proved to be the wrong choice for one rider who flipped his bike in the water!

Other riders- I am not sure how- forgot to put their feet down and fell completely flat into the water, head and all! The bikes seem to take in some water through the exhaust but were tipped up and restarted soon after!

Some longer stretches of water were just as fun, but just as messy.

As the day went on, it was obvious that the riders in the 'rental' bike group were becoming renown for their falls. Leaving the swampy fields, the mountain tracks proved no different.

During the second part of the day, I started riding at the back of the group. Some of the riders with less experience were starting to struggle and help was given over the rocky sections. The group was dividing up and stretching apart as the faster riders cleared the obstacles and raced on.

We finally all met up at a local restaurant before heading back.

What a ride! you should use this bike in the water :P

This is amazing isn't it. When I first saw this I talked to the guys I ride with about making it. We thought we could make some sort of crude mock-up version of the same thing- then we started thinking about the inevitable- the bike sinking lol and of course that's the real costly part. I think this KTM has a flotation device built in. airbags that inflate when the bike starts to sink. Very cool though.

I love that people tried to use street legal bikes on this! not too smart.

Yeah, and even worse when they have road tyres on them lol

Nice places, I'm following you now. :)

Thank you. glad you like it. Followed u too.

Man this is sooooo cool. Great photos. Where in Thailand is this?

Thanks, Was really nice riding around there in between rain storms lol. It is near Cha-am in the mountains behind.
