SIMCARD: The key to becoming relevant Part 1

Any normal human being with a mind of reaching a particular height in life will also have it at the back of his mind to become relevant. Becoming relevant doesn't start in a day, it's like a giant building that takes years to build. So many things have to be laid down before a building can stand erect. Relevant, according to the dictionary is defined as having a bearing on or connection with the subject at hand. It's quite impossible to have a bearing or connection on something you know nothing about. For you to have a connection with an issue means you've gotten used to it. Now, how did the word SIMCARD get into becoming relevant. As we all know, the power of a simcard in a phone is incomparable. As small or little as a simcard is, it has the power of connecting so many people together because in it are the contacts of people we have a relationship with. It's possible to change a cellphone 3 times in a year with the same simcard in it. This shows how relevant a simcard is.
Now, SIMCARD in this context is an acronym for 7 keys into becoming relevant. I'd be dwelling on 3 of them today which is the SIM part. Catch me tomorrow as i talk about the other 4. The first key into becoming relevant is;

  1. Sacrificial living.
    This isn't only about denying yourself of some 'enjoyable but self destroying activities'. It's also about living for others. In this world, everybody dies but not everybody lives. Some people die but they can never be forgotten because of how relevant they were while living. Rather die and let your vision live on, than live and let your vision die. You should ask yourself each day before sleeping what you've done to make someone happy during the day. Sacrificial living is helping people you know doesn't have the ability to return the help. It's seeing other people's happiness and you automatically feel happy. Becoming relevant starts by living for others. We should all have it at the back of our minds that some people's destinies are tied to ours. Giving our resources, time and energy is a sign of sacrificial living.

  2. Integrity
    Some people find it funny when someone tells them they don't take them seriously whenever they make a promise. But really, it should be a thing of shame. Anyone that has heard that from more than one person should check himself. Integrity is one of the keys into becoming relevant. Let your yes be yes and your no, no. You should rather fail to promise than promise and fail. Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. A double minded person can't be relevant because he's unpredictable and an unpredictable fellow doesn't have a direction and without a direction, you can't be relevant.

  3. Mentality of possibility.
    It is said that the way we think has a major role to play in the way we act. Before anything can be done, we must have thought about it. Pessimism is a drawback on being relevant. To be relevant, you have to see a possibility of things happening. If they don't happen first in your head, you can never see it happening. Improve on your mindset. Start being optimistic, then you can talk of being relevant.
