CONNECTING WITH THE KING
Text Luke 19:1-7; Zaccheaus encounter with Jesus ( be sure to read this passage before proceeding)
The text makes us to understand that everything that will hinder Zaccheaus from seeing Jesus were all around him. The first was that he was neither a believer nor follower of Jesus.
Secondly, he was a sinner, with no good report among his people.
Thirdly, the nature of his work does not allow him to go out of the city.
Then again, the crowd was a massive one, because the followers and disciple of Jesus had met in addition to a crowd of sick person clamouring for Jesus' attention.
So, there was no way he could have easily found his way to the Master.
The final hindrance was that Zaccheaus was a short man. If he should decided to move to a far distance, he wouldn't have been able to see Jesus. Now despite this obstacle Zaccheaus still desire and loved to see Jesus. And because of his objective, he didn't see all the obstacle.
He rather explored alternatives in order to replace the qualities he lacked which posed as hindrance. Primarily, these were:
- He accepted the fact that he wasn't a disciple
- He accepted the fact that he had no good reputation.
- He accepted the fact that he was a short man. But then, he didn't allow these thing to thwart his objectives- which was to see Jesus.
After having accepted these facts, he proceeded to climb the sycamore tree.
His efforts paid off when he eventually saw Jesus and was invited to host him in his house. Jesus went to his home and the people began grumbling, but to no effect.
This was how Zaccheaus had his connection with Jesus.
My people, if you have a vision but it is not backed by your desire, then it will turn out to be an ordinary television.
My people has a saying that; " Three generations do not go poor, " But let me tell you- ten generation will go poor, if they allowed the same trend.
All men desire to be connected to great and influential people or the top man of an organization.
Before attaining a height that no man has ever attained , you have to do what no man has never dine before.
For instance, Solomon offered a sacrifice that no man has ever offered and got what no man has ever received from God.
My advice to you who want to be connected to the king is to get out of your comfort zone. If there is nothing you are doing, then get your self one.
Again, get yourself a vision and pursue it.
Lastly, try and go the extra mile with whatever you are engaged in. You can always go further than imagine. Jesus did not go to the house of those who following him,but rather to the house of the one who climbed sycamore tree.
If you can endeavour to go further than others - THEN YOU WILL QUICKLY LAY YOUR HANDS ON WHAT YOU SEEK.
