Being poor is often a choicesteemCreated with Sketch.

Sometimes being poor is a choice.

This is not about the hopeless. This is about the millions who choose being poor for themselves.

Three people can receive $1 000. One will spend it in a day. The second will use it sparingly over a year. The third will use it wisely and turn it into $10 000.

There are those who consume, those who preserve, and those who grow. A consumer cannot blame a low income for his inability to manage his own finances. This is the ladder of financial management that I have seen. First a person spends money the moment it gets in. Second they learn to hold on to it as long as possible. Finally they learn to let it go for the greater good.

Our mindset often determines how successful we are in life. Now I am not looking down on poverty and somehow saying that people in extreme poverty can help it. But I am talking about people with enough income to sustain themselves. People who have everything they need to make something of themselves who simply waste away. People who always complain about how hard life is when they actually have a lot going for them. People who's mindset is the reason for their problems.

I am not a financial advisor. These were lessons I learned in my own life. Lessons I learned going from Unemployed living with my parents at the age of 20 to being financially free at 25. First I had spending problems, then I had saving problems. For a long time I was trying so hard to preserve my income, that I actually hindered its growth.

But to anyone reading this who are in a bad place. I want to say that life can work out.

Life can drastically change in a matter of weeks. It is important however to make sure you already took care of everything in your power. To not wait on the world to somehow make your life better. And to enjoy your life responsibly, not complaining about it every step of the way. Even if your life is hard. Being positive even if only for a better future already makes life better.

There are people with really hard lives out there. The amazing thing about these people is that even among those with extreme circumstances there are those who raise above it.

This immediately reminds me of one of the greatest men I have ever seen...

Nick Vujicic: a man with no arms or legs. A man who raised above all his limitations. Everyone has greatness within them, they just do not always choose it.

Welcome to Steemit Crisjay, I am also rather new, so I would take any following I could find. Have followed you and will be sure to check out your wall from time to time.

honestly staying poor, is actually is actually a choice. some people are born poor but after being exposed to the fact that life can be better they work towards getting a better life and make choices geared to wards improving their circumstances.

Nobody can choose where they are born, but almost everyone chooses how they live. And that determines where they are when they die...

Right on! I have written a bit on the same topic, and have coined a phrase, Sustainable Lifestyle Engineering. I used to dream of being rich, and then, with the help of my frugal and smart wife, realized I had all the riches I needed, as well as enough income, options to increase my income, and creativity to live a rich life. Of all our friends we are fairly certain we make the least amount of money, but everyone is always amazed at all the fun we have. My wife and I both work in public education, so we do enjoy wonderful benefits, but our income is legitimately modest. I look forward to seeing your posts.

Hey cstrimel, In some ways you could say that I am a minimalist. Though I have recently moved into a much larger place. But still 3 bedroom, So its not a waste, or I do not believe so. The last place was a small room and a small kitchen. Last year at some stage I made my rent for 4 years in 1 day, That's when I decided, You can afford a bigger place.

But that aside, I will surely keep an eye on your posts as well. I do understand that steemit is a process. I have been so busy today that I could not get to do much steeming. I will do my best to not kill your wall. I try to post once a day, and maybe skip a few. Goodluck on your side. Hope you receive much upvotes in times to come.

Thanks for the encouragement. Good luck to you as well.

it is interesting how some people manage life amazingly even after having very little and some, who have everything and still frown on everything and anything,

This is true, Its better to be poor and content with life than it is to have much and fall to greed. But if a person is unhappy with life, I believe it can be changed...
