Wrong association
Just last week, I got into a chat with my neighbour's son. This boy was in Senior Secondary Class 2, two years back. I knew how much he wanted to study Law at the university level. I asked him if he has gained admission into school, he responded no. I asked him why, and he told me he failed Literature-In- English, in his first attempt in both the West African Examination Council(WAEC) and National Examination Council(NECO) in 2017. And how he re-enrolled for the second attempt and still failed Government and Literature again this year.
From our conversation, he told me he had already changed his mind from studying Law and that if he can't go to the university, he will apply into the polytechnic. Not like polytechnic is a bad idea, but its a second class option for any secondary school leaver in Nigeria. This is because even the most unserious student prays to be in the university.
I could easily deduce from our chat that, he had already lost focus due to wrong association. I have seen from his WhatsApp status the kind of people he mingles with. Some of them have dropped out of school a long time ago, others are unserious polytechnic students who are looking for every possible means to get money. "Appearance they say shows the manner".
Right Association is very important in life, because the people you associate with can either make or mar one's focus in life and destiny. Even the Holy Bible stated it that;
"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners." 1 Cor 15:33
These are excellent and nice
