FACE YOUR FEARS

I could remember when I was growing up, when mum wants to bath me, I'll cover my eyes to avoid the soap lather entering them. Mum will say gently 'open your eyes' and immediately I would.
Today when taking care of my sons and bathing for them. They remind me of my old habits. One will always shut those eyes, even after pouring water on his head and instructing him to open them until I finished washing his entire body and started pouring water, even till now.
The other who is even younger, will open his eyes immediately I've poured water on his head and I always make sure their faces were wiped afterwards to avoid water entering their eyes as well.

The distinct between those two boys is FEAR

"Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to act in the presence of fear"
Bruce Lee

Fear differentiates us. Most of us have one or two things we are afraid of. I'm not talking of snakes and scorpions or lions and tigers. What I'm saying is our attitude to fear differentiates us.
The fear of poverty can either make you rich or poor, it depends on how you look at it. You can decide because you don't want to die poor work very hard and that same fear can grip your friend not to even try because he's sure he can't make it.
Some are even rich, the fear of going back to poverty makes them work harder to get more. They think of new ways to make legitimate money.
Fear of loneliness can make your friend to make his relationships work and do everything humanly possible to sacrifice for its success. However, that same fear can let you lose hope in relationships let alone marriage.

Fear of leadership and public speaking can make you want to be an outspoken person or can kill your morale for leading people, it's all about the handling of the challenges you got.
Fear of challenges can make some to be prepared for anything that comes their way and excel in the end, they don't see problems but challenges. While some set might not make it out of the waters troubling them.
You see, fear of criticism can hinder you from achieving your goals and can also make some to remain stagnant as they don't want to get criticized.
Another is fear of success and failure, I decided to put them together because they go hand in hand. If you manage your fear, you'll be successful, if you don't failure is certain(all other things held constant)

What you do with your fear determines who you are.

Fear can kill a dream and can rekindle an extinguished light, depending on how it's handled.

In the film APOCALYPSE, directed by Mel Gibson, fear killed a whole generation and it was that same fear that made one of them to get his life and family back, he ran for more than 24 hours, non-stop.

"Don't be afraid of being scared. To be afraid is a sign of common sense. Only complete idiots are not afraid of anything."
Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Most of us know Walt Disney, for those who don't , he's the originator of most of the cartoons we watched when we were young.
At age 22, he was fired from a Missouri Newspaper for "not being creative enough." One of his early ventures, called Laugh-o-gram Studios, went bankrupt. The creator of Mickey and Minnie Mouse went on to be nominated for 59 Academy Awards, winning 32, all for his unparalleled animations. He still holds the record for the most Oscars won by an individual, according to Walt Disney.com.

What about Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple dropped out of Oregon's Reed College after one semester. He also quit one of his first jobs to backpack around India and take psychedelic drugs, according to CNN. He later said that these experiences helped him create an iconic brand and the largest technology company in the world. While he famously accepted an annual salary of only $1, his net worth was $8.3 billion when he died in 2011.
Not going to bore you with failures turned successes in the end.

This is the time to face that fear with courage. This is the time to say enough to that issue you're afraid of. Is it the fear of poverty?, this should spur you to get up and do more.

Whatever it is, get up and face it.

See you at the top!
