Speaking of going nuts and being vibrant this weeks edition is all about overcoming phobia’s and finding happy places!

KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES:

Halloween and load binders don’t have anything in common apart from both being things I have
avoided in the past.As a Hire Industry professional I never quite got the jist of load binders even
though they were designed to make life easy for numpties like me!Halloween was also off limits as a
trumped up(sheer brilliance I know) Americanism Kiwis didn’t need to adopt.I am pleased to report to
all my critics that both these nemesis of the past have been embraced and mastered in recent weeks!
Fletcher reckons;his one armed press up was in hot demand as a Halloween trick before treat!
Probably more from a pure ‘entertainment perspective’ than a ‘feat of strength perspective’(funny).
Something funny…….seen on the back of an SUV “Driven by a Mad Bitch” hmmmm certainly made
me think twice about following too close or daring to have the audacity to pass!!!now that is funny!
I hope you also allow the little things to challenge and amuse you too.

SELLING THE SIZZLE:

Congratulations and thanks to all those that pointed out last week that a Random Act Of Kindness is
actually a R.A.O.K…..not a R.O.A.K anagram….haha I would love to say it was on purpose….but!!
As you may or may not know I have been mentoring a year 13 business class team .
They are a Young Enterprise Scheme(Y.E.S) as part of their final business study year.
I have provided a sounding board for ideas and input for problem solving/guidance and direction.
The idea is to hatch a new product, supported by a business plan and bring it to life.
This year we launched sustainable shopping bags made out of waste textiles and coffee sacks.
The idea won praise and placed in local and regional finals as a sustainable business idea.
The team (3 boys and 3 girls) had a lot of fun and learned about a multitude of business skills.
I got a buzz out of being around such vibrant positive young adults with a commitment to succeed.
We had our final Board meeting recently where we reviewed progress and looked ahead.
Whilst none of our ‘Deco’ Bags team are taking the idea forward they are all motivated for the future.
All are well prepared for upcoming exams and all have firm plans,hopes and dreams for their future.
As I sat there listening to their future plans I couldn’t help but admire their enthusiasm and spirit.
Call it youthful exuberance or what you will but it was inspiring and motivational.
As an adult with a good part of my lifetime of work experience behind me I felt some regret.
Regret that I have at times let the day to day grind smooth the edge off my enthusiasm and spirit.
That is why I unconditionally put myself forward for things like the Y.E.S. program and others.
That is why I look back and forward in this blog for the ‘Upbeat’ and lighter moments.
It is too easy to let life grind us down when all of us still have an abundance if enthusiasm and spirit.
Our mission is to have things unique to us that keep us ‘up’ and exuberant about the our future too.
Think about your happy place and go there more often,use it to motivate yourself and others.
