The subconscious submission of the common house gecko -and the "you can't do it" syndrome.
The house gecko is a harmless reptile which originated from Asia. All over the world where it has spread today, one superstition or the other cloaked itself around this popular animal.
**As a young child growing up in warri, Midwest Nigeria, one of the unverified belief and superstitions your mates indoctrinate you with is you can't kill geckos because they bring bad omen. Have they brought bad omen to anyone before, we don't know, but You just can't kill them.
Today, you are an adult. You have found that these creatures are actually harmless. That those superstitions were untrue. But you are still scared of them. You told yourself " Am not scared anymore, am only irritated by how it wriggles." But deep down, you know you are scared.you want to cast them away from your house, but you can't. You have been told you can't so you can't
This is the subconscious submission we need to revisit today. You were told "no single person with this degree and class have gone past this stage" so in your subconscious, you build a limit for yourself around it.
You have fought with that addiction over and over again, yet you fell each time. And in your thoughts, 'why the hell do I keep fighting? Let me just give in to this'
What about that beautiful Girl or Guy you so much admire, what is keeping you from talking to her/him? S/He is above your paygrade? Or Standard, low self esteem?
Napoleon hill once said that
There are no limitations to the mind except those we acknowledged.
You are a mass of potential, you don't measure your force with the failure of your past, you measure your force with the commitment to the present and the dedication to your future.
But man's capacities have never been
measured; nor are we to judge of what he can do by any precedents, so little have been tried.
Henry David Thoreau, Walden
You must have failed severally or exhibited a particular trait of weakness, but it is not enough to submit in your subconscious, it is not enough to call yourself a failure.
every limit is a beginning as well as an ending.

The fact that you have not gotten there does not mean your are not moving, it means you still have something to do. Go out there and step on that gecko today!!!.
By the way, today is Nigeria Independence Day. Wish us good governance and more committed people.
