THE PAINS OF REJECTION -I was a captive of rejection and rejection was making a decision for me

in #motivation6 years ago

I just pray you are not a victim of rejection, it can ruin your entire career. This is my story.

Primary School days was fun for others but in my case, I had to battle with rejection on a regular basis.
Have you ever been rejected before?
If yes, then you must know that the feeling of being rejected doesn't just go away.

Its a horrible experience, that is filled with bitterness, anger and hatred.
I experienced all manner of rejection in primary from being chase for not paying School fees as at when due to being a calabar boy.
By the time I got to primary six, I was already used to it.I will tell you one of my experiences.
For some reason, people don't believe I can play football very well. I don't know what gave them that impression about me.

The hallmark of break periods in Primary School for boys was playing football.

The football is played in such a way that the big boys or should I say bullies usually form their own team. This various teams where like cliques or should I call them squad.

To guarantee that you would participate in the game during the break period, you must either be a good footballer or are part of a clique.

This big boys always choose the best to play with them. Whenever I come to them to be selected, They always chased me out.

It happened consistently to the point that I stopped hoping that I will ever play football in School.

During break periods, I just stay in class and do not bother to go outside.

I was a captive to the spirit of rejection. Rejection was making decisions for me. Rejection was affecting my thinking negatively.

The spirit of rejection is a tyrant that saps you of energy and creativity. Rejection is a monster that has the power to truncate your dreams and destroy your imagination.

Rejection is the question mark to your achievements and potentials.

I dealt with it and used it as a stepping stone to greater heights.

So how did I overcome this aspect of rejection in Primary School.

I prayed one day and said 'Lord I can play football more than some of this guys, I've never been chosen to play. Please let me be chosen today and give me the grace to do my best"

I said that prayer with my head bowed in the class room and tears in my eyes. After I was done, I went outside to join the other guys.

As usual the game had started and between the two teams that where playing, no one has been able to score.

Everyone was desperate because, a team needs to score so another team can replace them but ultimately the time for break was short.

I just stood there observing what was happening.

The pressure and need for a goal mounted. Other standby teams where already proposing a solution so everybody can get the chance to play.

The two team heads that are already playing rejected the idea but said they would choose those who are neutral and do not belong to any team.

Well, I was the only one standing there and the game continued but nobody was chosen.

Five minutes to the end of break time, one of the group heads beckoned to me and said Ome!, enter enter. I replaced Obinna, he appeared tired.

I knew this was my chance to break the jinx.

The game was resumed after the pause. In the midst of the play, the ball was passed to me. I can't describe exactly what happened.

All I could remember was that I was in front of our opponent goal post.

I scored the winning and only goal at exactly the time the first ring of the bell went off.

It was all jubilation and from then everybody wanted to be my friend. Of course I was always chosen to play from that day hence forth.

Remember I dealt with that rejection with prayers and God worked his miracle.

You have that potential, don't allow rejection to cause you to bury it.

If you've ever been rejected, it means you are unique and you would be doing yourself a disservice in trying to be like someone else or pleasing everyone.

Be original, be unique and your uniqueness will be seen by anyone who desires to look and give you a chance.
Stop trying to fit in, just be you. Stand out and men would want to stand with you.
I look forward to seeing you at the top.
Thanks for reading and remain lifted.
