RE: Eight Keys to Success in Career | Delapan Kunci Sukses Dalam Karier |
Greetings, @ayijufridar. I'd say that some of the 8 are redundant (possitive and optimist, for instance); in any case inventing a parachute does not have to be seen as pessimism. As a matter of fact, to forsee or anticipate setbacks and be prepared for that (therefore inventing a parachute, for instance) should be considered another virtue for the list. Many people fail because they did not anticipate problems and the possible solutions to those in case they arrive.
Some people call that negativism and the attraction of bad vibe. I disagree with that posture.
I know that excessive anticipation may produce stagnation (conditions are never ideal to start a project), but some planning is always good.
Borrowing from Franklin, I'd add temperance (in the broad sense of the word). It's not just about abstaining from drinking, but from excesses in general resulting from early success that can translate later into bad habits and bad image. Many Athletes and artists fail miserably after relative success because of their inability to cope with fame, to control impulses, to waste money and company. And that in this sense includes frugality and moderations (other virtues encouraged by Franklin).
You are right, Henry. We cannot adopt all the opinions of the world leaders in this life. But at least, they give a picture of life based on their wisdom, insight, and experience. I think that could be one of the considerations. Hopefully we take positive values from world leaders, and leave those that are not in line with our values. Warm regards, Henry.
