RE: WAYS WE CAN IMPROVE OUR STEEMIT BLOGS AND ADD VALUE TO STEEM

in #motivation6 years ago

although i agree on the generic thing about how to improve your steemit profile i have some disagreements. Let me be more clear as you what i mean:

1)the mentality to not respond to comments below a certain sp amount is completely bullshit and wrong. I can agree when the user just make useless comments like ''good post'' and stuff like that and i am with him even if he flags them but just in any person below 100sp is wrong.

The reason that is wrong is because we are starting with a wrong mentality that youtube has. That we see ourselves as powerful and stronger than the others basically based on money. Just because we have more sp than others doesn't mean they don't worth. We want steemit to be something different something can help people achieve their dreams not another facebook-youtube kind of thing.

2)Being over a year in steemit the problem lies in 2 things. the first one is called human greed that leads people to do stupid things just to earn easy money like stupid comments, bid-bods use etc etc and less interaction. I will stay a bit at interaction which is the key for someone to succeed and stay in steemit. More and more people don't actual care to read the posts that a user makes let alone older posts. So even if we are talking about a very quality post if there is no interaction and upvotes how the user will stay?

Your comment is devastating and contains some honest truth anyway but the fact that @nathanmars restricted steemians below 100SP to comment on his post is what I saw only as a challenge. I know a lot won't agree with him but I see it as a challenge to make steemains work harder. Maybe he will change it as time goes on but we have to know that everything has an advantage and a disadvantage. If these guys with SP take it as a challenge to work harder, definately it help to add more value.

and if the new people just see that then i don't believe they will stick for a long time. Also some members that have more than 100sp may remember the time they had less and that they could speak and comment to whoever they wanted and ofc get a reply back. That gave them motivation i think. I can see @nathanmars point though, at the end of the day it's his profile and can do whatever he wants, that's freedom!

Also thanks a lot for taking the time to reply back!

you gave me an idea for a post with this 100sp thing :P

1)the mentality to not respond to comments below a certain sp amount is completely bullshit and wrong. I can agree when the user just make useless comments like ''good post'' and stuff like that and i am with him even if he flags them but just in any person below 100sp is wrong.

You see, this system is a very advanced technical ecosystem that accommodates so many types of parameters that are different from the known conventional platforms. As much as you will like to know that there are over a million users on steemit, however, these accounts are split into categories of real users, alt accounts, bots, spam accounts.

One way to identify yourself as human on the platform is having steem power, and yes this is life investment, it will take time to build from scratch, to differentiate yourself. Its not going to come easy, would you really want it to come so easy though? Think again. Someone sold his house to buy steem power, hasnt that distinguished him from a bot or a spammer? Hasnt that shown his contribution of value to the growth of the system? This steem we all claim needs value to rise, why dont you, why dont we all,....maybe a lot of people dont approach new users in the best manner, forgive them we all want the same thing but different methods.

We a might not be able to sell our houses, but we can show our ounce of commitment in continuos rendering of value and trust me, you will realise steemit.

So even if we are talking about a very quality post if there is no interaction and upvotes how the user will stay?

Come for the money, stay for the passion.

If the user then prefers to receive likes in other sites than potential upvotes in steem, then its really up to the user.

I also agree with you
Thanks a lot man, for your great reply. I appreciate it.

so in other words accounts with over 100sp are real users? and the more you have the more evidence?

That's extremely relevant i'l explain why but ofc it's my personal opinion so i may be wrong and before everything i want to thank you for that big fat comment, i extremely like those!

I won't start with the best example i ll give you that can trick us. Let's say i am a person with over 5k sp and i just create another account in which i either delegate a lot of steem power or just fully upvote everything. The posts that i do with these accounts are from just memes to just copy/paste youtube links. Thus in a very sort amount of time i will be over 100sp without actually doing anything and just trick everyone. All this can be easily done with automation apps. So now that i quickly have over 100spi am qualified as a person and a quality one?

Now the second example is that let's say a new user joins, that knows nothing about steemit. Chances are that even if he creates quality posts that he take a long amount of time to obtain over 100sp. Even more people share the mentality of the 100sp thing that person is from the start ''banned'' from others and not just because he did something wrong but just because he isn't that powerful in a crypto online social media.

All of this things i said are real examples i have seen in steemit and i can easily prove them with names if you want. Let me give you another example of how hard it is to obtain 100sp

I had a close friend that i brought on steemit. He was about 5-6 months active and had made more than 100 posts. Also he had some support from the community of my country. Aside of that he upvoted too and made way too many comments. 5-6 months after and he has 27,3 sp. Imagine how long he has to post till he make 100sp. (ofc if no whale give him a 50$ upvote)

People come for the money as you say and stay for the passion But passion isn't just writing on my diary but instead making my posts and people actually check them, read them and make comments that will give them the motivation to write more and more and being active.

Also imagine how motivated will be the fact that a person with 20-30-50sp comment on a post of person with over 5-10sp and receive an upvote for his comment of 20cent -1$ an amount of money even more than his posts. How happy and motivated will feel? and how closer to the community of steemit will come?

update

I checked @nathanmars post and not only did he ask 100+ sp but a vlog post so it counters the argument of bot accounts (except if the comment is generic)

I understand your claims, but I can also tell you that there are hundreds of community out there helping new users find their feet, @steemjet is one of them, there are contests held where people earn by participating, and contributing their quota, there are writing contests, free giveaways, but these are not even the main points, the main points are the opportunities it opens up for us to engage and connect with other people, the exposure, and like sp, that has to be worked for too, except you already have a lot of friends with much sp.

We can find as much examples as to why something is not working and at the same time, there are other examples that prove otherwise.

For me, if this however was the case, then there must be something I'm probably not doing right.

Thank you for raising this discussion and sharing your struggles, trust me you are speaking the mind of hundreds of people. I dont have an sp to give 1$ but what I can I will, however, if all youre trying is not giving you the result you desire, why not try something else. I just followed you and I hope to see you do so much better than now. Nice to meet you. See you on top!

i followed you too cause i like interacting with others and see comments like that. It's not i have a personal problem, my sp is 1700 so i am over 100 :P I just see the full potentials of this platform and want others to see it too.

I agree that there are many contests and communities out there for the newbies but it's not so easy to find them especially with the interface that we have now and the amount of accounts out there. All i hope is people to interact each other in this platform and enjoy their time in Steemit.

Awesome.

All i hope is people to interact each other in this platform and enjoy their time in Steemit.

This was the intention from the inception but mankind will be mankind, but I believe that we can all work together individually and as a team to achieve this, thank you again for this conversation. Taking a trip to your blog....just incase you are a highly sophisticated advanced model bot...jo...o..ook.iiiiiing :D

haha i am the advanced AI from the future :P
