KNOW YOUR ONIONS PT 1
WRITTEN BY SAMUEL GOGO
Until you develop your potential, you cannot operate at an exponential – Samuel Gogo
We live in a time where there is an increasing demand for the skilled. The skilled are those who have discovered and developed an ability. Ability comes from the willingness, determination to consciously carry out a particular task. The journey to becoming skilled is rigorous and painstaking but good news! It begins with a step- Desire!
One must nurse the desire to leave the present situation of despair, despondency, disgrace and foresee a future of glamour, grace and glory. To know your onions is to discover what you are capable of doing, to discover your skills set and capabilities, harness them and use them to profit.
To further digest KNOW YOUR ONIONS, let me share with you 3Es of how to discover your God-given potential.
ENGAGE: No mortal man is an island or a monopoly of knowledge. The way to the top is not a lonely walk. The top may be lonely but the ground is crowded. The fastest way to discover who you truly are and what you can or cannot do is through the people around you. Talk to people including those who can or cannot help you. Ask questions, stupid or sane. Seek counsel but be wise enough to sieve wise from unwise counsels. In the multitude of wise counsellors there is safety.
EXPUNGE: Take away negative thoughts as they are barriers to one’s progress. Whether you think you can or whether you think you cannot, you are right. -Henry Ford. The worst injustice you can do to yourself is to undermine what you are capable of doing. Anything, anybody who suppresses and oppresses your originality (belief system) is a demon. – Praise Fowowe
Expunge demons, expunge excuses.
EXPRESS: The best of you can only come alive when you have strong confidence in yourself. By express, I mean ACT. You could start by volunteering. The fastest way to meet role models is by volunteering to work for them for free. You will then be opportuned to learn their secrets. You would start by making mistakes but sooner or later you will attain mastery in your art.
The time to know your onions is NOW!
A late start is better than a never-start!- Samuel Gogo
