STEEMIT TIPS: IMPROVING POST PERFORMANCE

Many people have joined this platform with great expectations, only to get their hopes dashed and get discouraged by the poor performance of their posts. Some of these posts even have great content but yet they don't even hit the $1 mark.

There's a verity of reasons that could lead to this and I will try as much as possible to explain some of them and proffer possible solutions.

The first and most important thing you need to put in mind is that you can't get upvotes on a post that people do not see. It's simply impossible. Before I would upvote your content, I need to at least see it. You might want to examine the number of people seeing your post to know if that's the issue with the low post performance. The arrow on the picture shows the icon for the number of views on the post.

Another point to note is nobody wants to read something everyone has seen somewhere else again. Except of course if you have improved on the work or made changes worthy of commendation. Also, the platform does not on anyway tolerate plagiarism. Never copy anyone's work. This might even lead to you getting flagged and trust me you don't want that to happen.

Thirdly, never beg for upvote or do upvote for upvote. Basically those who do that have very little vote weight. That means what you get from their post is so small that you could easily consider it useless. It defeats the purpose of the platform because people who do that most of the don't actually go through your post. Basically the upvote is not for the value added by the post, it is just to fulfill their own part is a deal.

If you are writing for an international audience, stick to English language. It's a language many people from different works of life can understand. This gives more people access to reading your post without language barrier.

Finally, stick to the truth and learn to reference the works of other people that you have used in yours. You don't want people finding out that you have deceived or tried to deceive them.

The way forward

1. Always make sure your posts have content that would add value to others.
2. Try as much as possible to communicate in an easy-to-understand manner.
3. Use the right tags that at least give an idea of what your post is about. Your post is visible to people who search tags even if they are not following you.
4. If you can, write your posts in English language.
5. Make sure your posts are original. And strive to acknowledge and reference your sources.
6. Do not beg for upvotes.
7. Make yourself more visible on the platform by writing quality comments on interesting posts.
8. Beautify your posts with images and if you can make a video, great.
9. Join a community of steemians. Community members tend to support active members of the community.
