The 101% principle
"The biggest challenge is to stay focused. It's to have the discipline when there are so many competing things." -Alexa Hirschfeld
The 101 percent principle is one I find so interesting and viable over time. It's a principle I picked from my role model -John C. Maxwell, in his book developing the leaders around you and the principle states thus: "find that which is your greatest asset or strength, and then give 101 percent attention and development in that direction." In applying this simple principle it will amaze you at the giant you'll transform into in a short period of time.
It was best selling author and renewed speaker Tony Ribbons who said and I quote "we don't attain much in life because we major in the minors and minor in the majors of life." Your life will make so much meaning if you understand the majors in your life and give them 101 percent attention and development.
Back in school, a 100 percent was the benchmark of scores and when you get 100 percent over a hundred; it then means that you got it all right. The picture I'm trying to paint it upon attaining a 100 percent, add an extra to it making it 101 percent. It makes a difference and enlists you as a master in your area of strength.
Focus so much in building your strengths that your weaknesses becomes so minimal and passive; that's a ticket to a higher flying life. In our path to greatness, we must understand the definition of focus which literally explains the concept of the 101 percent principle and it's defined thus, "Follow One Course Until Successful" to follow one focus requires a 101 percent attention and development in that direction.
WINNING WITH FOCUS...
An ancient Indian sage was teaching his disciples the art of archery. He put a wooden bird as the target and asked them to aim at the eye of the bird. The first disciple was asked to describe what he saw.
He said, "I see the trees, the branches, the leaves, the sky, the bird and its eye.." The sage asked this disciple to wait. Then he asked the second disciple the same question and he replied, "I only see the eye of the bird." The sage said, "Very good, then shoot." The arrow went straight and hit the eye of the bird.
Unless we focus, we cannot achieve our goal. It is hard to follow one course until successful but it is a skill that can be learned and mastering it gains you a platform to partake of the bountiful harvest of the world's goods. That's the 101 Percent Principle!
It works and it will work for you. You are worth more and you mean so much more to me!
