How to Deal with Disappointment! - 5 Steps to Bounce back from your Failure

Amazing, what an excitement!


Two days ago- the 10th of August, I published my very first Post on Steemit.

It was a german #introduceyourself post and it skyrocketed through the roof. I expected around 15 maybe 20 UpVotes - Cheesecake.

Yeah, cheesecake ... I got a total of 74 UpVotes and dozens of great Comments!


But, since I had in mind to post content in English as well, I figured: Why not translating that Post, so that the whole Steemit Community can find out who I am.
No sooner said than done,
I opened up the laptop and brought the Keyboard to glow.
I´ve spend hours writing, translating and structuring till I had a
spick and span Blog Post.


It was 5 am in the morning, when I finally sacked the bait.
Oh boy, I was ready. - Ready for the flood of Comments and UpVotes!
Fiddlesticks...

We all have to experience failure. Whether it´s on the job, with your family or in Steemit.
We all make Mistakes - and that is totally fine!


What matters is, how you will handle your Failures.

Here are 5 Steps, that helped me dealing with Failure


1. Don´t Suppress your Feelings

Failure hurts and that is OK!
We feel anger, rage, and frustration after we experienced a failure.
It is important to stop ignoring or fighting your feelings. Instead, accept your feelings and stop rejecting them.
It might be more painful at first, but over the long run, you will recover much faster.
Listen to your emotions and accept your feelings. Give yourself some time to scream if you have to scream or to cry if you have to cry, but when it´s over - Move on!


2. Don´t take it personal

Just because you had a failure doesn't mean you are a failure.
Letting your failure becoming part of your identity, will slowly break you.

Remember that, what´s negative is temporary, as long as you move on.

3. Analyse, Learn and Adapt

Whenever I experience a failure, I try to answer those three questions.
How did I proceed?
What went wrong?
What could I have done better?
By that, I learn from my mistakes and I can make sure to never do them again. That way I eliminate the term "failure" and replace it with the term "lesson". I mean otherwise, what´s the Point?


4. Get a Mentor

Sometimes talking to a person who had gone through the same pain as you, can make you instantly feel better. You experience that you´re not the only one who had to climb such obstacles and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Get yourself a Mentor, who can guide and support you. He will be able to understand you, when no one else can.


5. Have an Intensive Workout

40 or 50 Minute's balls to the wall!
It's scientifically proven that an intense workout, causes your body to release the neurotransmitter Dopamine, into you brain. Dopamine is responsible for feeling happiness and pleasure.
Go out have a Workout and feel your blood flowing through you- it will instantly make you feel better. Feelings such as fear, numbness or rage affect your physical state, although they are created in your mind. Strengthen your body, that way you can train your mind and body to work together.
The second thing is, that a strong Workout will boost your energy level. Of course, we all feel tired and exhausted sometimes and don´t want to torture ourselves in the Gym. But I can promise you, that if you workout, although you were exhausted and tired, you´ll experience an energy boost like never before.
If I´m frustrated, sad or angry I´ll go to the gym and put myself through an intense workout. - Afterward, I feel like a new man.

What I did to overcome my disappointment

First of all, I want to mention, that my disappointment, about my English #introduceyourself post, is not in the least comparable with family or job related Disappointment. I´m unbelievable happy on Steemit, I just used this story to deliver my Content.


- I had a great Workout, meanwhile, I listened to some badass Rap Music


- Remembered my true motivations for Steeming


- Talking to @SirWinchester , about how I can Improve myself and my work.


Although... I wouldn´t call Winchester my Mentor - It´s more of a Bromance
big shout out to my boy...

I think of my life story, as one big Book. One big Book, telling the story of my life. - telling the Story of Chris.

A solid Workout helps the most! - To me, it is like a complete Reset.
