YOU ARE AS DEAD OR ALIVE AS YOUR TALENT IS
“The wealthiest places in the world are not gold mines, oil fields, diamond mines or banks. The wealthiest place is the cemetery. There lies companies that were never started, masterpieces that were never painted… In the cemetery there is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential. There is a treasure within you that must come out. Don’t go to the grave with your treasure still within YOU.”
Myles Munroe
Twenty years ago, the memories of my father's death still lingers fresh on my memory, I can hear his words still very distinct and clear as if he were alive. He was an awesome man whose personality reverberated into the lives of others and caused a wholesome mark on everyone he came in contact with. One evening, he called me out after dinner and said :
In all that you become in this life, never fail to become yourself
Using my talent as a public speaker and Compere
My daddy was an Immigration officer who had risen to an enviable height, a friend to success and enemy with mediocrity, the simplest way to make my dad avoid you was to not take your dreams, passion, drive seriously, he hated unseriousnes and indolence.
He drove in the nails of passion and charisma in me, to be at my best always, we didn't have too much back then but One thing we never lacked was wisdom. He kept telling me how talents will one-day sell more than anything else including educational attainment.
All these are happening today with mathematical precision.
I started in secondary school to participate in speaking engagements like debates, I joined the Press Club just in a bid to develop myself in my speaking skills. One thing is to have talent, another is to develop it and merchandise or commercialise it.
There are four phases in the development of talents :
1 THE DISCOVERY
2 THE DEVELOPMENT OR VALUE ADDING
3 THE IMPLEMENTATION
4 THE COMMERCIALIZATION
You can not begin to think of feeding from your talent, until you have first of all fed your talent with the food of development and advancement.
@AmbDavid
I do not know why on earth you came, for the chairs, tables, clothes, cars, everything we purchase are all fulfilling their purposes, some in our houses, man is about the only one still trying to figure out why he was made.
Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.
Albert Einstein
This is quite motivating, personally I feel I'm yet to find my stride but people do point out areas with which I add value to their lives.
I'm quite handy with writing and it's something I KNOW I need to develop, I speak and people listen and I feel the need to enlarge my vocabulary... The zeal isn't there yet but with steemit I might just get there this year.
Thanks for sharing this Bro.
This is so me!!
God ll help bro
Amen
My father also somehow impacted in me the desire to fly higher than your contemporaries. Life would be a city of heroes if each and everyone of us shunned mediocrity and desire to fly high. This is some good stuff on a Saturday morning like this @ambdavid
