I have always wanted to travel and explore different cultures. The first country that came in mind was USA so I made plans for it. I gathered all the money I had and applied for a Visa. Funny as it was on the day of my interview i was asked to questions and was told to wait. They interviewer took all my documents including my passport and told me to wait for a call. With smiles all over I was confident I will be granted the visa. While waiting, I was just planning in my head if i get to USA i will visit the White house, go to Maryland to see some interesting places bla bla bla... I waited for like 10 mins and I was called. Fiifi Ofori please come to number 4. When I got there, his first question was" why are you here" at that moment I was speechless. In my mind I was like why this question then I answered him I'm here to apply for a tourist visa. Then he went like I'm sorry you can't apply for a visa at this time. I was shaking then I asked him why please all he could say was sorry. I was getting worried and I told him please Sir I'm only going as a tourist and would be back. My documents is genuine and it shows I'm a student and still in school. I love travelling and I want to explore different cultures. All i said was in vain. He gave my passport back to me, a letter in addition with my document .
Though I was sad, my dreams didn't come through. I had to look for a different option so I went online to search for interesting places to visit. Whiles searching, Morocco was part of the list which appeared I was like "Morocco", what the hell am I going to do over there. I stopped the search and decided to ask friends of their opinion. One of them told getting a tourist visa to USA and Europe is hard but nothing should stop me if I really want to travel. In our talk I asked what do you think of Morocco. He said "My Guy" Morocco is a nice place give it a try so I decided to give it a try. Low and behold when I applied for the Moroccan Visa I was given. It was my happiest moment ever.

My Experience

Over the four weeks of my stay in Morocco, I visited interesting places like : Marrakech, Essaouira, Agadir, Casablanca, Rabat, Ifrane (Snowy City) and Tangier. I will talk about a few of them.

Marrakech

I arrived in Marrakech and ended up surprised. It was noisy and polluted, but it was also beautiful, exciting, and full of history and culture.
The touts were more persistent than I’d experienced in most places around the world but it wasn’t stressful and I wasn’t bothered by it. I even managed to negate some of the tension by hiring a local guide to show me around. My guide helped keep the touts at bay as we navigated the medina with minimal hassle. He helped me to get my bearings, and I experienced and saw a lot more than I had if I had been alone.
The following day, without a guide, I found simple wanderings to be slightly challenging but I never once felt like I was in any real danger. I experienced mild annoyance from the touts as they desperately tried to sell things to me, but they always left me alone if I didn’t engage. I simply avoided eye contact, walked as if I knew where I was going and they soon moved on to someone else.

The Sahara Desert

My tour into the Sahara Desert was the most magical experience of my life, and something I think everybody should see at least once.
However, there also felt like there was mild sexual harassment at certain points during the tour. My tour guide made me feel uncomfortable by continuously reaching out to touch my arm and attempting to separate me from the group. At one point, he offered to take me into the Atlas Mountains to camp after the tour, telling me I’d love the stars and the friendly Berber people.
Perhaps he was just being friendly, and perhaps I should have trusted him, but I’m often paranoid and extra cautious when I travel alone. I felt uncomfortable and stayed quiet in the hope he would leave me alone. He did eventually.

Wont talk much but i will say Morocco is indeed a lovely Country to visit. Morocco is beautiful and spectacular and the food is amazing! You've got to go to Morocco.

Should you go to Morocco?

I’m inclined to say that if you’re a reasonably experienced traveler, have plenty of common sense and have a pretty good idea of what you’ll be in for then you should go and experience the beauty of the country.

I lost my camera at the airport so i lost plenty of my pictures.
