Earlier due to the export of only brass articles the city was named as “Brass City” or Peetal Nagri (in the local language). It has close to four million citizens of various ethnicities and religions Moradabad is most renowned for its brass art work and has carved a niche for itself in the handicraft industry throughout the world. The modern, attractive and artistic brass ware, jewelry, candle holders, furniture, lanterns lamps made by skilled artisans are the main crafts. The attractive brass ware are exported to countries like USA, Britain, Canada, Germany and Middle East Asia. Moradabad has the huge number of exporters ranging from 3k to 4k which give the annual turnover of 5000 corer. Indian handicrafts has been serving in this sector since early 19 century which clearly shows the how the vast this industry is. If we talk about the jobs in export industry it has various positions for the same like merchandiser, shipping and logistics, sampler, accountant and many more. This industry provide jobs to more than 60K persons. The thing which is needed before starting an export business is to identify or target the right niche and the right country.
