Taste of the Mooncake part 1
Time and time again I find myself revisiting the world of moon cakes. The much celebrated occasional treat is something that I hold close to my culture and was a defining event during my youth. When moon cakes were served it meant that mid-autumn festival had indeed arrived and really provided that extra layer of festivities that are felt across other celebrations.
I suppose comparing them to putting up a tree during Christmas is a bit of a stretch but they certainly set the tone of the auspicious occasion that is anticipated by all in a household. Over time, I have sampled many styles and flavours of moon cakes and this has evolved over the years.
