Bake and Present part 2
The appearance of a mooncake is not randomized, they are symbolic patterns that are imprinted ad the top of the cake. The patterns will often embed the Chinese characters for terms such as harmony and longevity. The other accompanying symbols such as animals and flowers all have meaning behind them too. This makes mooncakes all the more interesting as there can be subtle meaning behind each and every observation of these offerings. It may be worth researching a little into anything that stands out, one may discover an entirely new meaning entirely.
Colours in China are indeed symbolic and it’s important to consider this when making new recipes and decorative changes.
