This is my entry for the #monomad challenge: Splashes
Hi everyone! So, Tuesday, black and white photography day and today's pictures are just perfect for this section. The fact that they were originally shot so that the color was virtually eliminated and the whole aesthetics of the frame is based on the shape, dynamics, contrast and silhouettes. What am I? Yes, the splashes of water!
As you probably already guessed, friends, I continue a series of my experiments on subject and food photography. And today I really wanted to repeat very simple, but very effective shots associated with the freezing of movement. I would like to briefly tell you how these photos were taken. So, if you look at them, you can see that there is a circular gradient from white to black in the background. How to get it? There are 2 options: on a gleam and reflection. In the first case, a special translucent material is required, in the second - an ordinary drawing paper. Here was shot on a gleam, so the source is behind the background. To get such a smooth circle, you need to put on a flash special light-forming nozzle-cone or snoot. It can be bought or made of black cardboard, which is sold in art stores. Accordingly, in the case of a spot on the reflection source with a cone should be placed in front of the background. Further, at a distance of 30-40 cm from the background we have the basis on which the object will stand. In our case, any reflective surface is suitable: a sheet of polished stainless steel, glass or a piece of plastic. I emphasize, only in this case. If you shoot, for example, on a white background, glass or mirror will give double reflections that look dirty. Have a glass, pour water into it. Adjust the light: put the smallest power, which will allow you to get the shortest impulse. Adjust the camera so as to obtain a normally exposed image. In this case, I had to set the aperture to f/6.3 so that the glass was in the sharpness zone and raise the sensitivity to ISO640 to level the exposure. And then, take in one hand the remote control camera, and the other - a cube of acrylic or ordinary ice, throw and shoot. A few dozen takes and you're done. Processing is minimal, and that's what happens in the end. Let's go!
