Monolingual Vs Bilingual

Monolingual person is the one who can only speak one language. According to the researches and survey, it is proved that a monolingual has more vocabulary skills as compared to a bilingual or multilingual. As a monolingual has vast vocabulary and can talk about different contexts in multiple styles. But, if a person is bilingual or multilingual, he may has an ability to speak numbers of languages but can not reach to the point of vast vocabulary a monolingual is on targeting one language.

Many people around the globe talked about this topic, even it has been discussed in the universities of United States of America (U. S. A). In a survey they took one hundred children of six years old and made a comparison between monolingual children’s vocabulary skills, verbal and non-verbal communication skills and bilingual children’s vocabulary skills, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. There monolingual children were considered more efficient in verbal communication and having huge vocabulary.

Monolingual person can talk about one thing in different ways using different phrases in different contexts like, if I consider myself as a monolingual then I have command on the global language ‘English’. I can wish you morning in many ways. For example, “Hi! What a lovely morning”. And like “Hey there, what’s up?” etc. In such way I can use different phrases for one context for one condition. On the other hand if I consider myself as a bilingual or multilingual, then I couldn’t find enough time to varnish my vocabulary targeting one language. My time will be divided learning multiple languages. For that, I may have only one way to wish morning in every language like “good morning” in ‘English’ as “Günydın” in ‘Turkish’ and the list goes on.
Monolingual person can express what he thinks about the context to the person who speaks different languages by using body language and by making face expressions. In this way monolingual can explain his side and thoughts to the person next to him on any context. Sometimes, words are not the only way to express yourself in any situation. Your expression can do it for you as well.

                  In my opinion, monolingual person has all those abilities a person 

needs to explain his side and even it is better to have one language around the globe.
This will help people across the world to communicate with each other easily. These days there are many languages people use to communicate with each other but, there can be one language people can use world wide.
