MonochromeMonday - Gold Reef City Casino - Gambling
Not a gambler I was captured by this casinos ambience, both on the inside and outside. These 9 life size bronze statues of the impalas, created by Danie De Jager at the entrance of the casino, captures everyone's attention. The expression and detail on these animals demands respect for this artist's amazing gift.
Each room at this Victorian style hotel/casino has its own balcony looking out on this fountain and beautiful garden, you can see the big Fares Wheel which forms part of the entertainment park on the side of the building.
Gambling History:
The first proof of gambling or game of chance was found in the discovery of some ancient Chinese tiles, dated back to 2 300 B.C. Tales of chance has been told since the time of the Ancient Greeks. The game of roulette was started by the Egyptians and the French in 1387 brought the playing cards to existence even Napoleon enjoyed playing the card game “Blackjack”.
This is one of the first slot machines that were used at Gold Reef City Casino.

You know a lot of gambling stuff. How is gambling becoming a trend, giving empty dreams to most people and benefiting others?
I agree, peradabandunia. It was sad seeing people sitting there for hours blowing their money on "chance". I do not gamble at all, never did and never will. The theme park is what takes us there, but I had to go see what the casino and hotel look like.
I love beautiful fountains and gardens! That one in the picture is huge! I wold love to show that off in my front lawn!
