PlayStation 4 Black Friday 2017 Deals Revealed: 1 TB PlayStation 4 Slim For $199, Cheap PlayStation VR Bundles, And More
Sony has unveiled the PlayStation 4 Black Friday deals for 2017, revealing great deals for the console and the PlayStation VR headset.
The PlayStation 4 has been featured in the Black Friday ads of retailers such as Kohl’s, Target, JCPenney, and Costco, but it unsurprisingly looks like the best deals will be coming from Sony itself.
Sony revealed this year’s PlayStation 4 Black Friday deals through an official PlayStation blog post, and announced that the offers will last for an extended period starting Nov. 19, through to Black Friday on Nov. 24, and until Cyber Monday on Nov. 27.
Gamers looking to finally purchase the console will be able to pick up the 1 TB PlayStation 4 Slim with a $100 discount to bring its price tag to only $199.99. The DualShock 4 wireless controllers, including the recently announced translucent controllers that are $5 more expensive than the others at $64.99, will all be sold at only $39.99.
For PlayStation 4 owners who have been waiting for a great deal to finally jump into the virtual reality bandwagon, the wait could be over. Sony will offer a PlayStation VR Gran Turismo Sport Bundle for $299.99 and a PlayStation VR Skyrim VR Bundle for $349.99.
The PlayStation VR bundles ranged at about $400 to $500 upon the launch of the virtual reality headset. The PlayStation VR is the most affordable high-end virtual reality platform, and it has become even cheaper with the Black Friday 2017 deals.
The Black Friday sale also extends to the PlayStation Store, where players will be able to pick up games at discounted prices.
PlayStation Plus subscribers will be to start buying games at discounts of up to 40 percent off on Nov. 17. PlayStation 4 owners who are not PlayStation Plus subscribers, meanwhile, can start taking advantage of the offers on Nov. 21.
The PlayStation Store Black Friday sale will last until Nov. 28. Sony will release more details on the sale over the coming days, including the games that will participate. Unlike the hardware offers, though, there is no chance for the digital copies of games to sell out, so PlayStation 4 owners can leisurely purchase them over the sale period.
The Nintendo Switch has outsold the PlayStation 4 in most months since its March launch, but PlayStation 4 sales are still going strong. Sony recently announced that it had sold 67.5 million units of its current-generation console since it was launched in November 2013.
There are some challenges ahead for the PlayStation 4, including the aforementioned Nintendo Switch, but offers such as the Black Friday 2017 deals will keep sales coming in for Sony.
