Another nail in YouTubes coffin

In a bid to regain "trust from their advertisers" YouTube from February they will be removing monetisation from channels that do not get 4,000 hours watch time over 12 months.

Your channel also has to have over 1,000 subscribers.

Why? because they want to
"Identify creators that contribute positively to the community"

That tiny little statement is very telling, not only is it a great big kick in the balls to those that create content for a small niche it also shows that YouTube are looking to further tighten their grip on the type of content they want you to watch.

Of course this move comes after a big media upheaval. Where we used to go to TV for news and entertainment the majority of people now access this online.
TV shows, news outlets etc flock to YouTube to retain their audience.

What was once a place to find something interesting and different has become mainstream.

So in an effort to keep the media giants happy YouTube are taking the revenue that they paid out to millions of smaller channels and giving that share to the mainstream content. In some cases content that we already pay for.
Here in the UK we have a thing called TV licencing, we pay for the British Broadcasting Company to create content if we own a TV, and more recently if we have an internet connection as their shows are also available online through their own streaming service too.

Now we would probably be a bit happier if it did indeed mean that we could watch some amazing content without any adverts, unfortunately that's not going to happen. For a while now YouTube have had a paid for account that removes adverts. The adverts are still going to be their unless you pay YouTube they just won't be going to the person that created the content you sat through the advert for to see.

What are your views on this announcement?

I have a feeling they are planning to mutate it into a paid venue similar to netflix. When I go to youtube, more and more their little pop up offer to suscribe to youtube TV pops up.
When I look for Any type of alt news, there are 3 pages of MSM to wade through first which are filled with nothing.

They are getting it all lined up, it seems

yeh now youtube will become Clean because there was alot of Copyrighted materials and shit things...
