Do we need a bank, if we have a blockchain?
That is the question the banks ask themself, too.
In the movie from 1971 'Fistful of Dynamite' directed by Sergio Leone - bank turned out to be a prison. I would like to use this allegory here.
Consider whether banks we need, and can restrict us?
Definition
A bank is a financial institution that accepts deposits from the public and creates credit.
Now banks offer negative interest rates on deposits... So, a lot o people try to deposits their funds in real estates, gold etc. Crime (robberries) is considerably lower than before the ages.
Is now the banks protect our property?
I don't think so. As I remember a case of Cyprus..., they took money from their clients. Probably You find more examples in history of the world.
Do we need bank credits ?
Previously, the role of credit created by the banks served as a promissory note (wechsel). We do not know why, today is a big problem in the use of such promissory note. They say it's a matter of trust, but on the other hand, it may be a matter of competition. Why would anyone take the profits of the bank, by creating their own money?
The trust - an important thing. If I remember Lehman Brothers... I no longer believe any bank.
Banks offer financial services
Agree. They know a lot of instruments and ways to promote your business, family, and the global economy.
Hello folks, if the world is not the poor, the hungry, the sick without help? And on the other hand, the rich, the people chucking out a food?
Banks are not doing a good job!
What banks do in fact?
Of course, they make their busineess. They earn money for their shareholders. Banks are not non-profit organisations. They sponsored all the wars, even Holocaust. Why?
What if each one could have its own bank?
Then, probably, no bank would be needed. Also, financial institutions may be replaced by cryptocurrency and I see hope on it.
What do you think about it?
The author lost his own company after the Lehman Brothers affair. And the last of his money in the bank were frozen after the suspicion that he trades cryptocurrency, which is still legal in his country, but not like this bank part of Santander Group and soon may not be legal, as former bank president became deputy prime minister.

Banks are old technology. Over the next 20 years it will be super interesting which institutions will be replaced by blockchains.
