I've made over $300 taking surveys through this site just this year!

Site of the Day: My Opinions

This site is very easy to sign up with. All you need is a first name, a surname, and an email address. After that, fill in your profile, wait for the survey invitations to land in your inbox, then click the links through to your surveys.

One of the best things about My Opinions is that it provides bonuses based upon how many points you have earned previously. At the end of each calendar year, your Loyalty Status is calculated based upon how many points you earned the previous year.

Here's a table showing what bonus is provided at each level and how to qualify for it:

With a moderate effort, you can obtain Platinum status within one year. But even if you only sign up in early December, you can probably still reach Silver status by the end of the year if you complete enough surveys. I make over 2500 points each month even without my loyalty bonus so there's no reason you can't too. In fact, in some months I've made triple that. In other months, I'm too busy to take surveys. But that's okay. Your points never expire so long as the site exists.

At the top of this post, you can see my current Loyalty Status. As it has been for the past few years, it's Platinum Plus. Under the progress bar on the right, you can see that so far this year I have made 33240 of the 8000 points required to maintain this status next year. It's a shame there are no higher levels seeing how I've qualified for this one more than 4 times over this year already! It's not that hard so you can easily do it too. In the black box, you can see that I currently have 2417 reward points and 97 competition entries in my account. (More on what that means below.)

The points system is very simple. 1 point = 1 cent (Australian). So 2000 points = AU$20.00. Therefore I have made AU$332.40 taking surveys so far this year. But that only counts those surveys which qualify towards my Loyalty Status. Almost every day I find I'm screened out of a survey but normally I still get 20 points for my effort. (Being screened out means that your answers to the initial questions prevented you from qualifying for a survey, e.g. if the researchers want the opinions of people over 50 but you're a Millennial, you would be screened out based upon your birth date.) Only points earned from surveys you complete count towards your Loyalty Status. Points earned from screen outs do not.

Currently, My Opinions advertises a $5,000 quartly prize draw however, in my experience with them, these draws have been irregular. It kind of acts like a second chance draw. If you're screened out of a really short survey you often get entries instead of 20 points. So nobody really expects to win the draw and nobody really cares. But these are what the 97 entries I have are for anyway.

My Opinions does have a referal programme however you only receive a bonus for the first 5 people you refer.

Cashing Out

As for Reward Options, you have 2 choices:

1. Flexi eGift Card
2. PayPal

Cashout values range from $20 to $50 for a Flex eGift Card which you can spend at a wide range of retail stores.

PayPal withdrawals are processed instantly and you can choose any ammount between $20 and $50 provided you have sufficient points in your account.

My preferred cashout option is PayPal because I have confidence that I will receive the cash immediately and can then go spend it anywhere I like, but eGift Cards can be good for sending to friends if you're generous like that.

Summary

Pros:

• very frequent surveys, often multiple times each day
• excellent bonuses for frequent participants
• instant cashout via PayPal
• 1 point = 1 cent (Australian), so it's easy to figure out value
• most surveys pay 20 points for not qualifying

Cons:

• frequent technical errors and support staff frequently don't respond unless you make it clear that you're really upset
• survey invitations via email are so regular that spam filters sometimes catch them
• limited referral programme

One final note: Like most survey companies, My Opinions requires you to be as honest as possible. This particular site is strict! I have previously had my account temporarily suspended because their system falsely identified my responses as being inconsistent. So do your best to be honest!
