Voting is the new tipping
It just dawned on me. On reddit they used tipbot in r/bitcoim and r/dogecoin, reddits default tipping system is reddit gold. The only thing reddit gold does, is pay for server up-keep (according to reddit) and the user may be able to use the "reddit lounge" which is just a subreddit with the restriction of entering it being; you have to have reddit gold active for that period. Basically like a subscription for a subreddit that is the same as any other one.
I've spent a lot of time there and now it feels like I have upgraded from Microsofts Internet Explorer to a beta version of Google Chrome. I am pretty sure I'm getting paid more than any other beta tester in the history of betas.
So thankful to be here and excited to welcome everyone to their new digital inn. Remember that all of you who are here today, will be the go-to people to the newcomers in the future. Don't compare yourself to the top 30 steem holders right now, they are the 1% and they deserve it for what they have brought to life. You will also be one of the 1% soon compared to the rest of the userbase that will join. To new people your votes will be like the biggest tips they have ever seen.
Comparing is always bad anyway, it tends to bring greed and the world has enough of that right now. This is the time to give back prosperity to the people who with the current economy of the world, have lacked it for quite some time.
(Not sure who's picture this is, found it on google - hope creator doesn't mind I used it for the thumbnail)
Steem on whoever read this!
Here is a bonus video for those who don't know the U.S dollars history and where it stands today, and what the difference is between that and real value.
That illustration attracted me to come here :)
Cool! I wonder who created it, a vote will be waiting for that person here. :)
Good point with this post, also GREAT video to share! Do you know if this is Mike Maloney? It sounds an awful lot like him. He's a really good person to listen to for understanding economics.
Yes It's definitely Mike he shares some great economic analysis at his blog. The economic crisis of 2008 was just a speed bump on the way to the main event, this year
Yes it's gonna be a bad year for a lot of people.
Jonathan Cahn has some great insight regarding the economic collapse of 2008 and how it ties in with the Biblical Shemitah, and also how 2015-2016 ties in with the year of Jubilee
I'll have to look into him. Jeff Berwick is another favorite of mine. He also talks a lot about the shemitah.
Yes! It does seem to be him! I should watch more of his stuff! :) thanks for the comment!
I Completely agree with you. Us newbies will later hear complains from newbies from facebook in the coming months.
Haha let the facebook masses enter! We are gonna need more voting- and man-power for them! :P
Steemit not ideal.
But it may be one of the first.
Why is it not ideal?
It can be just as bitcoin could have - except that bitcoin didn't listen to the community, and after today security update, I can tell that the steem devs DO listen to their community! And this is what we are right now, just a small community of people bringing hope to the people in a hopeless phase of the worlds economic stability.
I have followed Roger Ver for a long time on twitter, he has been pleading for a blocksize change for over a year now, but no, let the monopol of miners decide, not the people. This will become and already is (with a small delay because of the halving happening) bitcoins undoing. There are neighbours who are new and fresh showing up in much better shape and slowly but securely bite from bitcoins value in % compared to the total of altcoins. The difference is, the neighbours know who to listen to, the people, eachother, while bitcoin is still in the cave mining away and forgot its phone at home. :)
Sorry if the analogy is lame, but steemit will prove what open-source upgradeable blockchain appliances really do.
primarily drawback I see is that Steemit primarily focused on English-speaking environment.
also beginners are very difficult to understand the use of the rules, especially if they do not speak English. many people don't know the nuances that need to know.
Remember we are still only around 30.000 users. And I bet only 80-90% of them are unique ones, with time it will get more balanced. :)
That's not true. The majority speak english now yes, but it doesn't have to restrict itself to only english speaking people.
Look at this post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@fabio/was-ist-steemit
That's the beauty about blockchain, you don't have to limit yourself in any way. I read that the Steemit team are focusing on scalability as well so that's even better!
I have a different opinion. I see posts in Steemit that people do not understand how it works Steemit. such as the Russian-speaking community Steemit extremely small.
I do not speak English. and I translate with the help of a translator. It is very long.
sure I saw a post saying we need a tipping system. But what is voting if not the perfect tipping system?
Agree! Plus if you really want to send someone money (value) instantly, you can. Just by usernames!
Your short article is EXACTLY how I feel! We are changing Social Media in so Many Different Ways! Steem Power on my Steemit Friends!
The video I posted isn't mine and its 30 minutes long. :) but yes, that we are!
I hope Steemit trounces Reddit but honestly, Reddit is killing Reddit. It's the best thing they've ever done.
Can't agree more, at least now after the CEO's new changes.
Thank you for your positive take on this subject, and for putting things into perspective.
This truly is a format where we can all benefit by helping each other, as long as we keep that in mind everyone will prosper!
Apologize for the typos, wrote this on my phone and editing makes it lag to death.
i would precise whales voting is the new tipping
