Over the past few weeks, I haven't been posting much about sports betting. This isn't because of any poor results, but rather an effort to diversify my posts. As we all know, there isn't a lot of interest in sports betting here on Hive, but I did want to provide an update.

To be honest, there isn't much to share. This month, I've only played six parlays, which is low compared to a typical month. There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, it's difficult to find value at this stage in the season. Some teams have nothing to play for, while others are battling relegation or fighting for a European spot. I'm cautious about playing teams in relegation danger since they can be unpredictable.
On the other sides, I was running cold. Bet after bet was lost. To prevent myself from chasing losses and going berserk, I did learn that decreasing the bet amount is a good thing to do. One tends to increase the number of bets or to add riskier games to the ticket, just to dig the hole deeper in stead of trying to crawl out of it.

And it seems that this tactic is working. In went the other direction than what human nature tries to make you do. I did decrease the number of bets and try to be more selective. This seems to be working great so far. Okay I understand that I did jinx myself by writing this.

Let's have a look a the April numbers so far:

Superb figures. A hit rate of 66% and a ROI of 197% is just great. It wasn't intentional to play mostly 2 folded accas, I just is the result of being more selective. And by the looks of it, it does pay off big time. Now I do face the hard work not to throw it all away. Which is harder than it looks. I do have a profit of just below 12 units. With cold swings of 15 loosing bets in a row, the profit could just vaporize. So, while the start of the month was great, we are there yet.

The great start of April also had a nice side effect and that is that year 2023 has turned green. It is some moons ago, that 2023 was green.

And while it is green, it is not dark green. The profit could be lost in 2 loosing bets in a row. Still strange that no 4 fold combinations has been won this year. Last year I did have a hit rate here of 36% and now a miserable 0. But I do have faith that someday one of those bets will color green!

Lastly, the graph shows that I don't chase losses when I'm running cold. The downward slope is linear and doesn't drop suddenly, which is crucial to stay in the game as a punter.
