Patent

So recently I added on a room to my house, as I am a builder I decided to do some custom things. Only problem is no one makes the brackets I need for the doors. So I took to cad and went down and sketched them out. I then took it to a manufacture and got a proto type made. He suggested I do some research and see if a patent exists and then apply for one if it doesn't. I thought cool, but after looking into it a bit my patent does not seem to exist, but I also don't want to spend 2 to 4 thousand to get one. I do think my product would sell, but at a low price it would take quite a few to break even, and I have not thought about the demand it would have. I also don't really have the time to apply for myself, so I will currently keep my product hidden until I decide what to do.
