YPP vs Casino

in #money7 years ago (edited)

I find it quite comical that the day I received the notice that my YPP partnership was ending I hit decent at the casino.
The youtube partnership program or YPP now requires some 4000 hours of view time and 1000 members to be able to
monetize your videos. Sounding a bit more like a racket than a partnership. :)

Now where I find this quite commical is that within a day of getting my notice I hit 4k at the slots. The following week I hit 1k. Hmm.. an omen?
Not to say that this is a way to make money because the casino will always win, but it is sure a hell of a lot more fun!
By the time I pay taxes on the win, it is still probably more than I would make in 20 years with YPP.

Countless hours and hours creating videos to reap $160 in a year or a few hours of having fun at the casino and making 40 times that amount? Not that they care, but I think I have decided where to invest my time.
Not to say that someone cannot make a buck on YT, it is possible, but personally I am debating if it is worth my effort.

My reason for creating videos however was more of a public service and self help, so it was not monetary anyway, but seeing that I could make a few pennies here and there offered some slight amount of additional incentive.
When I look at my YT profits I hear crickets... 'chirp...chirp', when I look at my casino wins, I hear bells, whistles and excitement... haha.

Strike up the band...
