This is a very interesting post and perspective on how Steemit does "employ" people just through commenting and how if they actively promote the platform, what a difference they could make in their community through this curation.
As you travel through Steemit you come across people who are doing just that, both physically and virtually in supporting their online community as we do in the STEEM engine and with the in-person meet ups.
I'm a bit wary of going to the meetups in case someone sees it as an opportunity to try and sell me some whacky cryptocurrency that's going to make me (i.e. them) rich.
