Everquest P1999
Are you fed up with all the current MMORPGs available today because it's too easy and has a pay-to-win feel to it? Are you sick of WoW and its hold-my-hand quest story lines that are presented in a different fashion but the same type of bullcrap? Well then Everquest P1999 might be for you.
In 1999 Sony released a game called EQ. It was basically one of the first true MMO out there. It was tedious, aggravating, and annoying, but had the most rewarding experiences. It has 14 unique classes with 4 different character roles. Each class has its own special and unique abilities that cater to their groups in their own way. For example a druid class and wizard class get spells at higher levels which allow them to teleport to certain places that usually would take hours to travel to by foot. There are no flight-paths, or instant access to zones. All travelling is done by foot and if you aren't one of these special classes that can teleport you better make friends with one!
I'm not gonna lie this game is HARD.
Imagine being only level 29 (after months of exping) you've finally got enough gear to battle at Highkeep against some goblins, but you had absolutely no idea that a single pull would turn into 3 and die! You spawn back at your starting town to face a long and arduous journey called a Corpse Recovery. When you die in this game you die in real life! (joking..sorta) when you die in this you spawn completely naked. Yup that's right. All the gear you obtain will not stay with you. It'll be on your corpse. And to top it all off you probably lost a good chunk of experience points.. About 1-2 hrs worth at most.
One of the missing elements that have been stripped from today's MMO experience is most players don't get punished at for being careless, or inattentive. In fact you are rewarded in-game for being careless! Just so you have an illusion to keep on playing. Who calls that fun?! When you die in WoW big deal!! That's just a free ride across the map.
In this game "smart" players are rewarded with experience points and gear. By out maneuvering certain monster spawns, knowing spawn timers, and interacting with players will yield you valuable riches. One part of the enjoying and fulfilling moments in this game is learning the mechanics of certain npc's, spells, and physics in the world of Everquest. Certain mobs do not behave like others and can "aggro" you from a distance or set range. There also factions that dictate whether you are considered friendly or not against npcs; which can be raised or destroyed. Knowing how to move in and out of certain zones is key to mastering your environment BUT there are no in-game maps. You'll literally fall in love with the zone designs and understand how these mechanics work throughout your leveling career. This isn't a one time run-through of an instance then set it and forget it on to the next one.
Everquest is a Sandbox MMO that literally takes days.. no., months.. wait.. YEARs to attain max level and gear. Finding good places to camp and farm gear is essential but even more essential is being involved with players around you. Most content cannot be explored or challenged without extra help who possess the same game-knowledge as you do. It requires lots of patience, trial and error but once you've break through that barrier this is a game that all MMO's were built upon for one sole reason "To Explore a Vast Unknown World and Create Experiences With Other People Online"
Although, most of these features were later on stripped thru added expansions, whacky lore, and cheesier methods. P1999 Preserves the former glory of what EQ once was and still IS.
"Relive the classic Everquest MMORPG Gaming Experience as it was in 1999 and onward.Project 1999 is a free to play Emulated Everquest Server giving Players the opportunity to experience Classic EQ Once again, currently in the Velious expansion and a max level of 60, with the look and feel of the old interface and several modifications making game mechanics similar to how the game used to be. Project 1999 is the best and most popular classic Everquest experience. "
