With just two weeks to go before the trade deadline – and there’s only the July 31 deadline now, waiver or no waiver – two National League teams with uncertain futures will meet this Saturday when the San Francisco Giants host the New York Mets. Both of these teams are still technically in the NL Wild Card hunt, but given their losing records, it’s almost certain the Giants and Mets will be sellers at the deadline. San Francisco will showcase Jeff Samardzija (3.93 ERA) in this matchup. The 34-year-old righty has been profitable for Giants bettors this year, leading the team to a 10-9 record with the OVER at 12-6-1. Samardzija could be a good pick-up for a contending team, although he has almost $30 million remaining on his contract, which runs through 2020.

The Mets will likely go with Walker Lockett (11.74 ERA), who was called up from Triple-A to spot start for another injured starter, Zack Wheeler. Their rotation is chaotic as ever, with Wheeler (shoulder fatigue) hitting the IL last week, and the possibility that he, Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz will be put on the trading block. The outcome of those decisions could further impact Saturday’s probable starter.
