MLB Odds: AL East Divisional Matchup Wraps Up this Thursday

An important four-game series will come to a close this Thursday (1:05 PM ET) when the Toronto Blue Jays visit the Boston Red Sox. The clubs split the first two games at Fenway Park, with some big offensive outputs from both sides. A total of 32 runs were scored in the first two games of the series, which exemplifies the pitching woes that both the Jays and Red Sox have experienced this season. Normally we wouldn’t be expecting a high-scoring game when Sale gets the ball, but 2019 has been perplexing for the lanky lefty. Sale is on pace for a career-worst ERA (4.27) and has won just three games on the season. In addition, he’s allowed five earned runs in each of his previous three outings.

While the Jays will be looking to take advantage of Sale’s struggles, they’ll likely need a big offensive day just to keep pace with Boston. The Red Sox lead the league in runs scored (537) and they’ll be licking their chops against Reid-Foley, who has pitched more than five innings just once this season.

The Toronto Blue Jays came up with a big offensive performance against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday and they’ll look to duplicate that effort on Thursday when they take on Boston’s struggling lefthander Chris Sale. Sale has surrendered 20 earned runs over his previous five starts, so the Jays will certainly take their hacks at Fenway.
