I began self publishing on Amazon three years ago. I've used three pseudonyms during that time- Maya Rossi, Heidi Rose and SC Huggins. I sold just forty copies in three years. (Covers her face)
I decided to make my work free for all. Let others other than my family and friends decide if my writing is worth buying. But I was afraid, what if everyone hates my work?
But I needed to make a living and I needed to keep writing. I belong to an online forum in Nigeria called nairaland. Shout out to the steemians on Nairaland, especially Doyinisaac, tosyne2much.
One particular day when my dejection was at its highest and my head hung as low as a sick bird, I found my way to the business section and there was steemit.

She has always been kind, generous and caring to me. She posses this unique ability to put a smile on one's face. Even during the most gloomy and darkest days(my father's demise) of my life, I would have a look at her posts and smile. She is among the very few friend who pulled me back to life, from the dark abyss.

Today about five blog accounts followed me simultaneously. That was not the weird part. The weird part was that each of these accounts had reputation ranging from 30-50, they all joined Steemit about 109 days ago and they had followers ranging from 5000-8000.
The first thing I noticed was the discrepancy between the followers, their time on steemit and their reputation. This could mean several things;
They are not active. Probably posts once a week or something.
Their followers do not check out their posts, do not upvote or comment on their posts.
Now while the first is the probable reason behind their low reputation, it begs the question; why do people follow blogs on Steemit? What is the rationale behind following a blog you do not read?
On a day trip out of the city I took a little trip to the island of Murano to enjoy some of the glassblowing that takes place here.
If you're in Venice for more than a few days it's worth taking the boat ride over to this island to see some of the different craftsmen at work and how they make their pieces of art.
I'm used to visiting the workshops of Japanese craftsmen so there's definitely a different vibe here as many of the workshops are now just places of entertainment for tourists.
Today, I'd like to present my latest major undertaking, which I believe will benefit the Steemit community greatly in the coming months: The Beginner's Guide to Steemit, a plain-English guide to the Steemit ecosystem aimed at a non-Steemian audience who may be interested in joining the platform. The goal of "Last Pop" is to advertise, empower and promote communities through a simple game.
You buy a water balloon that has a vice mechanism on it.
Each one is preloaded with a certain amount of cranks. I roll a varying series of dice and crank the balloons. When they hit a certain number they pop.
We go in the order of those who bought in first goes last.
So if User A buys before User B. User B always gets their cranks done first. So A would win if B pops!
Like before you can buy back in AFTER signup until there is 10 balloons left.
