Some Powerful Tips For Minnows On Growing Your Steemit Community That Often Get Overlooked.
Powerful Tips For Growing Your Steemit Community
What's up Steemit commUNITY?
Here's intending that everyone is good and keeping it positive. 🙏
I am watching our new community friends come in and begin to navigate through the Steemit waters here and there can never be too much support as this platform is constantly evolving.

Earlier this week, I had put together a pretty extensive post on tools & tips to help the newer members of our mastermind community and anyone else out there that is looking for better ways to maximize their time here. And we all seem to have different and diverse ideas as to what that looks like. Unfortunately, a glitch in the matrix swallowed up all of my info and it disappeared into a black hole, or maybe it was a wormhole. It was some kind of hole, that's for sure. 😕
For some of us on here, it's about making money while learning about cryptocurrency. For others it's about developing their writing skills and sharing their gifts and passions with the world on a larger scale. And it's also about creating communities of like minded people to greater enhance the "whole" and create a better world by utilizing this fairly new blockchain technology.
I find that most have positive reasons for being here. You will however come across stories of unethical people abusing the platform for their own selfish reasons. The good news is as I have seen it is that the Steemit community has a very low tolerance for negativity and abuse, and they are willing to protect this unique platform to keep it positive and balanced as much as possible moving forward.
One thing has become clear to me and that is what this post is mainly about. Creating a community of like minded followers and supporters to regularly interact with and co-support to achieve success at the above mentioned reasons for being on this platform. Unless you're independently wealthy or just playing around to see what Steemit is all about, you would have a hard time being a "lone wolf" here.
So here are some of the best "newbie" tips that I have come across in my 3 months on this platform. You may shake your head and say that's just common sense, however I'm posting this for a reason because if you "get this" in the beginning, your journey will be much more rewarding in ALL ways, and it will save you a LOT of time figuring out what works and what doesn't.
The first thing is: QUALITY content is key. Sure, there are some people here with a LOT of followers that are able to post a meme or a picture of their cat and make $85.00 in a day. That's because they have developed a lot of followers over time. And that will happen to you too if you follow some rules and put some real passion into your posts. I may love the content that I read, but I'll remember the persons "energy" that put it together and that will make me want to support them moving forward.
Again, QUALITY content over quantity will be one of your greatest assets.
Quantity is of no value if it has no quality.
Great posts that add value to the community are rewarded more. Even if you do not receive enough upvotes due to being new or not having a large following, you will see a massive increase in engagement on your posts with time by posting quality content which adds value to other people, you will do yourself a favor because people will start following you and look forward to your posts. Engagement is the greatest indicator of quality.
Next, your post must also be well-written. It’s not enough to have perfect grammar and spelling. It needs to be personal, interesting, and interactive. In other words, something that will ideally "engage' your viewers and encourage them to want to leave an upvote and a comment. If you are able to leave a lasting impression, it will go a long way to gaining a following of loyal supporters. So, passion for a topic shows in your writing. Its a natural progression from enjoying the subject to writing about it.
A clear title letting the reader know what the post is about and what it may provide to them if they chose to spend their precious time reading it. Again, do your best to make it interesting and engaging.
Next up is TAGS. (No, not the crispy chips pictured below.) If you want votes, rewards, and exposure, tags are your friend. Having your post listed in multiple categories increases your exposure to people looking for materials on the tagged subjects, which will increase your earning potential.
To find a list of tags and the amount of posts currently under those categories, go into your profile page and click on the 3 horizontal lines to the right of your profile pic or logo. This will provide a drop down menu. Under "explore" you will see a list of tags with the current "stats" next to them. You'll then see numbers of posts and to the right of that the number of comments in that particular category. Some categories have thousands of posts which may mean more competition to be seen. I find that in the beginning I just choose relevant categories and experiment. This isn't an exact science, however you will begin to notice which categories your posts do better in. Again, the key here is to use tags that you believe are RELEVANT to your posting content.
Lastly, a HUGE "connection" builder for you is going to be leaving QUALITY comments on peoples posts that you appreciate. THIS cannot be overemphasized and will do more to build followers than possibly anything else I have found. Combine this with YOU posting QUALITY posts when the people you gave a lot of love to come to check your posts out, and you've got a powerful combination.
Consistently following these "common sense" guidelines will assist you moving forward and being successful on here as opposed to just winging it and seeing what sticks.
I'd love to hear your comments and feedback, as well as any helpful experiences or anything you'd like to see covered to assist you on your journey moving forward. The more positive experiences we share, the more we learn and grow as a community.

Thanks to our Steemit community for supporting, upvoting, re-steeming, & connecting!
These are the only advices anyone has to follow to Rock their Steemit Life. I don't know why people fail to understand this simple formula. If you keep on focusing on these points, you are bound to succeed. A whale will def notice you and provide you upvotes one day :-D
Great post @sourceoftruth. Cheers!
Thanks @hungryhustle for the positive comments and re-affirmation to these simple formulas. I believe that a nice even pace will usually beat out any "fast" track hype. A solid foundation is what successes are built on. 🙏
Well points you mentioned are true, but not all of the truth!
To grow in steemit, you need to be connected to klans and groups. It takes whales and dolphines for you to grow
OR
You need to have loads of loads of Steem Power.
This is more important than tags and quality content
Excellent post man! Possibly your best post yet, excluding the amazing one in the worm hole lol! Upped and resteemed, this is perfect for new and old alike, good to check in on the posting passion as you said! :)
Thanks Keni. I appreciate it. It must be very boring for you to read this "old" news stuff over and over, but I sure appreciate it. You Rock! 🙏
Your right it was boring to read this again haha
The point that I had to,reread and reread it again showed that I actually never read it in the first place haha .
I stopped at the spelling and grammar part haha .
My mind is too quick to bother about these finer details
But noted it’s important .as was all your points Jeff
And appreciated you took time to share .
Are you sure you were a musician
After this boring post ,I’m beginning to,wonder haha
Now I will get into, trouble as the no grammar here might make my meaning a completely different ball game .
I suppose I need to say .you Roll ,,seeing it’s easter ,,so I have been told .
Thanks @lifeisgood7 for your humor and reflections 😃. Sometimes we overlook the "simple" foundational pieces because we get in a hurry. I know I do that LOL. Glad this was valuable to you. That is my intention always. And yes I am still a musician and artist. WE are all creative beings at our core and it's good to have a creative "go to" outlet. Keep Rockin' & Rollin'. 🙏
Looks to be very similar to the phishing scam that @arcange has been warning people about. Perhaps now I've pinged him he can clarify, he's super busy though. For now we can only advise readers NOT TO FOLLOW that link and to be extra vigilant where they post their passwords.
Also read this for more info: https://steemit.com/steemit/@arcange/phishing-site-reported-upperwhale
Oh for ffs .
Steemit is difficult enough to understand without all this phishing scammers .
I need to get off the internet I think
Thanks for the warning keni
WARNING! The comment below by @sourceoftruth leads to a known phishing site that could steal your account.
Do not open links from users you do not trust. Do not provide your private keys to any third party websites.
Don't get discouraged @lifeisgood7. Just keep a couple of simple things in mind. Do NOT click on external links in the comments unless you are paying attention. If it seems like someone is giving away the greatest thing, be careful. If you do go to click on a link, be SURE to "hover" over the link and make sure the Steemit url has not been slightly altered like "steemil.com" or some other slight variation. Also, if you do go to a 3rd party site and it asks for your password, PAUSE and be SURE the url is legitimate. Hope this helps 🙏
Thank You Jeff, this is very helpful. Need to catch up. I've been juggling external "things" stuck at the 3D end of the wormhole.
LOL @lifeselfmastery. I can relate. The wormhole seems to be making its rounds Ha!. Just keep it SIMPLE and steady. WE are here to support each other. Follow the "foundational" long term plan and you can't help but succeed. Glad this helped. It helped me just by focusing on it a bit more and sharing it. 🙏
LOL :D Let's stretch that worm hole eh @sourceoftruth ;) Thank You for your good advice :) I know exactly what you mean about writing on a topic - it helps me get really clear & formed about the topic. I enjoy the process of writing as much as I do the pleasure in sharing it with others & their reactions & resonance.
Thanks for your help and suggestions. I'm learning all I can I'm going to go check out your former post as well. I really appreciate all the support and I hope one day I can do the same for others. :)
You are welcome @omitaylor. Thank you for supporting and commenting. You are doing very well for the short time that you have been Steeming. WE will continue to support and engage with you. I need to go back to your last post and go a bit deeper as well. LOL. It was packed with love & information. Keep Rockin'. 🙏
Thank you @sourceoftruth :)
Hey @sourceoftruth,
Thanks for this.. I'd totally forgotten this list was so easy to find... IF this is how I first found it! ;)
I'm 51 days in but this has been my experience too. I ONLY did comments for most of my first two weeks and I have to get back to a good daily rhythm again.. I miss the 'meet and greet' vibe of commenting a lot. There are so many great peeps with intriguing content here on Steemit.
Thanks again! Upvoted and esteemed already and will now FB/tweet.
Hi @angelacs, thanks for your positive comment and reflections. I hesitated at first to post this because it seems like common sense, but it's the "minute" details that can make our Steemit experience so much better. Everything I shared I learned from someone else that was kind enough to "pay it forward" as well. That's what I love about this commUNITY. Thanks for re-steeming and sharing. You have my support now as well and I'm following you. 🙏
@sourceoftruth,
Exactly. Between the wait to get in and finding steady Steemian feet within the first month or so, newbs need just such minute details to bridge the early confusion/overwhelm gap.
For instance, my dear @PeggyHazelwood, who joined just a couple days before me, was kind enough to give me the EXACT graphic size that was optimal and using that info for my #IntroduceYourSelf first post gave me a lift in confidence that I was so very grateful for.
If I'd known how important it is to quickly go 'meet and greet' by visiting peeps in my fav topic areas and offering relevant comments right at the start, I would have had a leg up in posts and new friends earlier on.
I do hope you'll channel back many of the details you lost that did not make it into this excellent make-up guide, @sourceoftruth. Because so much info gets buried so quickly on Steemit, refreshing and republishing and expanding on Steemit quick tips is always useful and needed.
Thanks so much again and Thanks also for your support and follow. I was already following you and now that we've properly 'met', will cheer you on and support you too from now on. ;)
Blessings always...
You had to start all over again??? Ow mennn, well you did a good job. For me often the second time the same story is not as good as the first time hahaha.
Im gonna pop a resteem on it! Not because its new info but I like how well it is written and is easy access with fun inside.. good job dude!!
Thank you @karinxxl. Greatly appreciate your feedback, support, and the resteem. The first one was packed with info and links, however I think breaking it down into smaller chunks turned out to work well also from the feedback and engagement. More to come. 🙏
Cool! Looking forward to it!
Super good post, Jeff. Helping others get started is great, and very much needed as people as queuing to get onto Steem. Thank you for contributing to a better steem world for everyone. You are appreciated.
Thanks Marike, I almost missed seeing your reply. I'm going to have to question Gina about this LOL. I think I have too many notifications coming in from her. She's a hot bot that seems to be open to sharing herself with just about anyone. I set her up (no pun intended) to tell me about people she has seen that are posting things that are of interest to me like "awareness", coaching, and consciousness. She's really been getting around and filling my "box" with lots of action. I may have to limit her exposure and keep her on a shorter leash.
Thanks again for your support & contributions. 🙏
