Newbies Support : Steemit Healthy Interaction Contest - Earn $0.40 - $2 and Increase Your Reputation Just by Commenting!

in #minnowsupport7 years ago

Hi Steemians,

Every one of us was once a newbie; a struggling fellow looking for some sort of support. I was a newbie six months ago and I was wondering what to do. When I started interacting with previously strangers, I realized how powerful that interaction was.

Steemit Healthy Interaction Contest.jpg
Everyone wins in this contest. No losers!

I not only gained more visits to my blogs from the comments on others' posts, the authors upvoted my comments too; sometimes in multiple dollars. I can understand the struggles of newbies because we have all been there. But I have a very honest offer for you.

Leave a good comment on any of my posts and get an upvote ranging from $0.10 to $0.25 vote from me ($0.50 for excptional comments).

Read on to understand what benefit it has for you and your reputation.

Monetary Benefit

The real value of these upvote is way more than it shows. If you study Steemit reward system and see current market rates of SBD and Steem, you'll see that my 15-25 % vote will be equal to $0.40 to $1.00 in value. Exceptional comments may get $0.50 vote as well, which means $2 in value.

Increase in Reputation Score

If you haven't read my Reputation Score 101 guide, please do it right now. You will get to know that increasing reputation is easier in the beginning than it is at later stages. What that means is that my upvote will significantly help newbies gather some reputation points.

To guage the increase, see your exact reputation on Steemnow.com/@username before you comment and after you get an upvote. There will be some significant increase in it I am sure.

Rules of Engagement

For a start, it would be helpful to read my post on importance of comments in which I explained why valuable comments are the best thing to do on Steemit, especially in the beginning when you do not have a following. It also teaches how to comment. But here are some rules to participate in this newbie support to ensure healthy participation.

  1. Whichever of my posts you comment on, please comment only after reading the entire post.

  2. Resteem this post so that your followers can participate too. (Please do confirm in a comment)

  3. Avoid comments like nice post, good post etc.

This post is included in the contest of course. Anyone who comments on this post is eligible for an upvote. The worth of upvote will strictly depend on the value of that comment in my opinion.

You can comment any way you want. Here are some ideas though.

  • Give feedback
  • Summarize what you learned
  • Ask questions related to the topic of post
  • Point out errors
  • Criticize what you didn't like
  • Suggest improvements

Whatever value you deliver in your comments will be translated to rewards in your wallet and increase in your reputation; a phenomenon I call rewarding Proof of Effort.

Invitation to Established Steemians to Support Healthy Interaction

I am doing this alone but it would be amazing if you can chip in by rewarding good comments with a small percentage upvote. Every cent is a big support to newbies. By reading posts, they will develop a good habit of reading from authors and will also learn a lot considering many of us have written detailed guides on Steemit.

To support this initiative, please click my Replies tab and upvote valuable comments done by newbies.

Conclusion

Steemit is all about healthy interaction and community development. This post and the little contest is purely intended to achieve just that. By helping the newbies learn how to interact, and then rewarding that interacion, we can make Steemit a better plaxe where new users wish to stay.

Please support this initiative in whatever way you can; at least a resteem.

Thank you very much for joining in. :)

I love the concept of trying to create a healthy community by rewarding good comments on genuinely good posts that are being created by people like yourself and plenty of others.
I started my steemit experience back in June, but lost interest soon after. Recently, I've regained that drive/want to be active in the steemit community, essentially giving it another chance. I have a bud @zacharius who got me going again, and within a month-spand I've grown my account from an est. amount of $15 to $100 just these past hours. All it took was some time and effort to be a part of this ever-growing steemit community.
I'm excited for the ride that's ahead of us, and what you are doing @ilyastarar is an excellent idea to help fellow minnows grow their accounts, so kudos to you my man. Excited to read, comment, and resteem your upcoming posts !

Incredible! People should read your comment and see what little efforts can do. From $15 to $100 is measurable but from inactive to excited cannot be measured. It is priceless!

Posting comments is so crucial, because it gets you away from your blog. I know that sounds a little strange, but Steemit is a form of social media. Sometimes people forget about being social, and get very caught up what they are doing, and they ignore the work being put out there by other people. Or when they do comment, it's something that doesn't warrant further discussion (e.g., "Nice Post.").

I come to Steemit to create and to consume content. That's part of the platform's beauty. You can participate by making your own content and by appreciating content created by others. And you are rewarded for both! How cool is that?

I think the strength of this contest will be that you are showing new people the value of commenting. It is something that bigger and more experienced Steemians recommend all the time, but new users are slow to adopt this approach.

I hope this is an insightful experience for you @ilystarar!

...because it gets you away from your blog.

This is such an important thing that you have explained. My least productive days on Steemit are the days I spend on my own blog. Sometimes, I get so many comments that replying to them comsumes all the time. But I think it's ok because I am still interacting with others like I am doing right now in this comment.

I just wanted to show our newbies a path which will lead to more motivation and engagement. Getting rewarded for good interaction induces better interaction.

Thank you for a beautiful comment.

Not just that but because people are incentivised to leave comments people do leave constructive criticism and nice comments - for the most part lol.

Hi, I already noted your goal of helping the newbies here on steemit and it impressed me so I followed you, it's really heartwarming.

The importance of comments can't be stressed enough - I'll take myself as an example - I am a med student so right now in the middle of the semester I can't invest too much time in writing the long posts I would like to. But - having learned the importance of the message conveyed in ilyastarar's post - I decided I will enjoy some posts and will comment on a few posts a day with a deep and meaningful comment. I do not always get upvotes but frequently - post authors appreciate my opinion and the fact that I try to contribute to the discussion they want to rise, and they reward me for it. it's motivating like hell and it makes me proud to see I can contribute and actually get back some of it. this way I will be able to gather reputation and funds I will convert to steem power in order to be able to help others with my votes and help myself too by accumolating friends and readers - so when I will have some free time from university - I'll be able to dedicate the time to publish posts myself and have to audience to spreed my message to.

thank you ilyastarar - people like you are rare, most people will just enjoy and profit from their hard earned power.

As I keep saying in the Israeli group and chats: leave at least 10 insightful comments of value for every post you author. At least. And trust me, this works. I've posted proof to strengthen my point on the Facebook group.

Besides, most quality comments on my posts get their ~0.11 from me almost automatically. Some get more. :)

I have seen this in my own following. Best advice for new steemians is comment comment comment. And quality goes a long way. Can you post the Facebook page? I would like to check it out.

It's a group. Israeli Steemit. A lot of it is in Hebrew. :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1955209224803713/

Hahaha I don't speak Hebrew but thanks anyway.

As a 2 month old noob I keep trying new things to either get my content (that I consider excellent) seen by more and acknowledged by votes that make a difference...

In that time I have noticed that REPLYing in a quality manner to others posts (especially when they are dolphins or whales) often earns me more credit than an original post making nearly the same points/arguments/information.

Being that I only have 140 followers my posts get seen by very few and I have resorted to upvoting all my "good" content, however I just read a post where they say that doing so is BAD FORM,,,,, well bad form in the post is lame and the upvote gets BIG $ rewards....
https://steemit.com/steemitabuse/@steempolice/steem-has-no-future-unless-self-vote-abuse-is-stopped-steemit-inc-and-whales-do-your-part
I guess that is not a worry for me as a vote from me is worth less than a penny,,, but the article scared the crap out of me. I have worked very hard to get my reputation to 42 and would go away crying if I got slammed for upvoting myself in order to at least get 1 penny out of my valid effort in contributing to the community.

THEREFORE: Thank you very much for you LOVE of STEEMIT and your assistance to noobs and the HIGH MORAL VALUE you exhibit by your form of support stated above in your post. KUDOS to you my friend !!!

RESTEEMED (at my expense)

Commenting is such a great thing to do. It's good for you and good for the platform.

As far as self voting is concerned, upvoting your own posts is not a problem and you can do that as long as you are not posting too many times a day. Majority of your upvotes should go to others' content (posts and comments). You do not need to be afraid as long as you are not abusing your Steem Power to deplete reward system only for yourself.

Thank you,,, and my point is made again here,,, I earned more off of that comment that I do off of 3 or 4 good posts in my blog...... I kinda think we should NOT earn for upvotes (or flags),,, they should just be to promote (or discourage) the type of content we want to see,,, and the rewards should go only to authors,,, JMHO as of so far.

It would make Steemit life hell for newbies. Comments are there to stay on authors' posts and their replies tab. They can see them and reply to them. And they can upvote them to bring more valuable comments at the top for more visibility. I support upvotes on comments. I think it is a wonderful way of ensuring healthy interaction.

Just my opinion and it's great to look at things differently.

Yes, I totally agree,,, upvoting comments is good,,, i'm just don't think the "curration" rewards (going back to the upvoter as opposed to the commenter or author) are serving the system.

There is a word flying through the air when we talk about steemit. Even if it sounds to robotic it is just like a reflection of real life interaction on dijital platform. It is steemit eco-system. An other version of real life habitat.
I am still kinda newbie, with my all existence on steemit. As being a newbie, i find your estimations pretty accurate. When i search the posts which includes my interests or make a sensation to read them, i do read them with a connection between me, content and the author. And i made comment sincerely. As you mentioned before in one of your post, when you visit someone regularly and bound with the content or the author, these are make a real relation. And relations always help us to grow.
I learnt a lot from your sharings @ilyastarar . And your posts help me to help others. Thank you

Beautiful. It's amazing how reading from another person can get us closer to him/her. Steemit encourages good behaviour. It may be fake to begin with but if we keep faking it, we will make it in the end. But it's not fake. People here are genuinely good and caring.

I appreciate the community vibe on Steemit. I'm glad people like you are opening the doors for younger minnows like us. It's very helpful to read how others have stuck with the platform and are becoming more successful. Very inspiring. Thank you.

The community vibe is what kept me and many others here and active. On your way to a higher position on Steemit, you will meet amazing Steemians. It's always the people and the platform; not the platform alone. We have great people here.

Ben de yeni başlayanlardanım. Steemit insanın kendini geliştirebileceği güzel bir paylaşım ortamı. Steemit bir kültür ve birikim sitesi. Herkes bir şeyler öğretmeye çalışıyor. Yeni başlayan bir minnow olarak desteklerinizi bekliyorum. Yazınızı, kendi sayfamda paylaşıyorum. Herkese başarılar.

Your reputation changed from 28 to 29. :

And thanks to Googe Translate, I could read what you wrote.

I'm a newbie. Steemit is a nice sharing environment where a person can develop himself. Steemit is a culture and accumulation site. Everyone is trying to teach something. I look forward to your support as a new minnow. I share the article on my own page. Good luck everyone.

Thank you and greetings from Pakistan!

Very thanks.

After reading your previous post, I was wondering how can I find my reputation score, so thanks for mentioning this link "Steemnow.com/@username".

I am usually a person who reads posts, upvotes and moves on. But recently I have started to comment on posts and I can see the change in my reputation score. And I have also had good conversations in comments.

Thank you for your posts and support to newbies

Oh and Resteemed :)

actually, your rep score is the number behind your name (26) on every post or comment. took me a while to understand what that score is and how i can influence it as well (and how important it is for your exposure)

Never waste a reading experience by voting and moving on. Take a minute to share your thoughts or give feedback to the author and see the magic happen.

As noted by @sircryptonite, your rep score was 26 before I upvoted and it is 27 now. Happy Steeming!

resteemed - and thank you for helping newbies like me. steemit is quite confusing when you first start out. it took me a while to understand the basics of the mechanics. i am a photographer and would love to work on my exposure.
will go through your older posts since there are a lot of very short tipps for newbies, but yours look like a thorough explanation, which is just what i seek for. thanks and keep up the good work!

The learning curve is great, especially for the users who are not too technical and are new to cryptocurrency thing. Steemit is full of people who have helped thousands of users and it is our responsibility that the next generation of Steemians gets good advice as well.
